Josh having continuing problems from last year

Steelers kicker Josh Scobee converted 3 of 4 extra points in the Steelers' 43-18 win over the 49ers Sunday.

Although the Pittsburgh offense exploded, it gave Scobee few scoring chances. After scoring touchdowns on four of their first five drives, Pittsburgh opted to go for two point conversions on two of them. When they finally did give Scobee an opportunity he missed, hitting the upright. He did not attempt a field goal against San Francisco and, after missing two field goals in Week 1, fantasy owners may want to look elsewhere for a kicker.
What you are doing here is reminding everyone the NFL moved PAT attempts to the 15 yard line for exactly that reason. Kickers around the league have already shown us the new rule works.

It appears from a lot of your post's you like to be disagreeable for the sake of it because not everyone is missing XP. Only 8 kickers have missed XP 130 out of 139 tries were successful.

Josh happens to be one of the eight and only one other kicker in the league has missed 50% of their FG attempts. 17 have made all, 4 have made 4/5, 5 have made 3/4, 2 have made 2/3,

Josh made 2/4 and 1 kicker 3/6. 1 is 0/1 1 has not had any FG attempts but is 8/8 for XP. It is only 2 games but Josh appears to be continuing to be having problems just like last year not

from earlier when we used to call him Mr Automatic.

He ended up deleting his twitter also, guess Steeler fans don't love him as much as Jags did.

He will be alright he just isn't as good as he used to be. We definitely got a lot of the excellence out of him

Yep, I knew his best days were behind him. It happens to every player. We will always love him for being the Colt Killer. In 2010 he should have been the AFC's Pro Bowl kicker.

But my point still stands (no pun intended) that longer PAT attempts are causing misses this season.

Wow. I feel bad for the guy. He's still a popular dude in Jacksonville so I hope he comes back to Twitter when he leaves Pittsburgh
Right wrong or indifferent, Caldwell absolutely fleeced the Steelers on this one. It was a gutsy move, but it was the right one. I think this trade tops the Gabbert trade by far. Gabbert sucked but was a young former top 10 pick. We got the same compensation for Scobee I believe, and he's a 30 something year old kicker.

Drafted Josh in 5th round and traded him for a 6th rounder. Your right Jags got a great deal but Myers has to be as good and reliable as Scobee. Josh actual was quoted twice after the trade saying " he understood trade and thought Myers was going to be really good"
I think that Scobee will be alright.  Kicking in Pittsburgh is not easy.  The original post is quoting fantasy football.  Also remember, he supposedly wasn't as good as Mike Hollis when we drafted him.

Kickers are a strange breed though, especially when you consider them against the backdrop of the other players on a typical squad. I've heard it explained before that kickers are a lot like golf players, most of their game is purely mental / emotional. Now I'm not sure about you guys but I would think that if I was in my 30's with a wife and a couple of kids and I found out I had just gotten traded and that my first regular season game is in a week and a half, my mental and emotional state would not be anything close to "stable".

I'm not trying to make excuses for Scobee here, but to understand why he is struggling isn't it important to look at what he is facing? Maybe as the season goes along he'll warm up to the situation but for now I'm at least willing to consider "complete change of scenery" as a reason for his recent struggles.

OH NOEZ CALDWELL TRADED SCOOBY I LIKED HIM, FIRE CALDWELL!

Myers missed a kick! OH NOEZ BAD MOVE!

FIRE FIRE FIRE!

His decline started last year and it was fairly clear on the field.  Glad the Jags staff picked up on it and made a move.

The new rule is about messing with the point spread. Fan interest/game excitement is just a bonus/side effect

So I guess the fact he is missing FG at a higher rate than he did 2 years ago is related to fantasy football too. C'mon man Really he is on the downhill slide and Jags were lucky to get anything more than a 7th rounder for him
