Quote:They've also said we won more than expected so apparently it is an excuse

At 7-26, winning more games than expected is absolutely nauseating.

I agree. Just saying DC straight up told Kahn we were going to be this bad or worse for a few years. I think the offense will find its stride here soon

That message has never really settled in with certain fans on this board.  Pointing it out here puts you in the apologist category.

Hopefully the offense does quiet the critics soon enough.  Getting back a few weapons will help tremendously.

The offense absolutely needs to find its stride soon.... If we are to get to that 6-7 win total, we are going to need a few early in the season. We let one get away, and this Sunday will be out best opportunity for a while.

By the way, that Denver hurry up/shotgun heavy offense was totally useless yesterday wasn't it? Good thing Kansas City was able to use ball control offense to fend them off. Kansas City won that game, right?

Do we have Peyton Manning at QB?  I'm fairly certain we don't, but hey, you keep clinging to that hurry up offense being the magic bullet if it keeps you happy.

The reality is, until this team can execute the basics without problems, all the hurry up is going to do is put your defense on the field for 3/4 of the game.  Great plan.

Hey, I'm just saying, when you're behind it can help you catch up.
FBT, our line has issues in pass protection, right? Starting out in shotgun gives your quarterback a better read of the pre snap defense, and it also cuts your offensive line some slack because your quarterback doesn't have to worry about being able to get to the end of his drop back without getting hit. You can get the ball out a lot faster. Surprised more teams don't lean heavier on shotgun with young quarterbacks for that very reason.

They didn't have that many issues before Joeckel was injured

Even so, why wouldn't you do whatever you can to give your quarterback a better read of the defense, and an ability to get the ball out quicker without getting hit? You can still run out of shotgun. Green bay does it all the time.

Or, you go with what your roster was built to do, and you run the ball to get the defense out of pass rush mode on every play.  I know, it's not what you do in Madden, but it's proven to work more often than not.

That's great if we were down by 2 or 3 scores.  We weren't.

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF A DRAW PLAY? THAT'S HOW YOU KEEP THE DEFENSE OUT OF PASS RUSH MODE.

A lot of teams run out of the shotgun. You get cover 2 defense a lot of the time when you're in it, which is prime for running up the gut.
There's this idea that you can't run out of shotgun, and it's infuriating. Just like you can use the run to set up play action, you can pass to set yourself up for long runs.

Let me ask you this: Does the clock still run when you hand off out of shotgun? YES! SO, in theory, you could still play ball control offense out of the shotgun, what a novel idea.

But no, let's just keep trying what isn't working. When we score 15 points or less this week tell me how that went.  BOLD PREDICTION: We play a somewhat respectable first half, then come out flat in the second half again.

Yes, because other teams don't also have injuries. The Panthers were 100% healthy, right?

Their offense wasn't good either.
Here's my thing FBT, you're saying the offense will get better when it gets its playmakers back. Well Marqise can't be counted on to stay healthy, and there were virtually no tight end targets last week, so how much of a difference will Julius make? He has an injury history too!
It's the TEs fault.  During halftime, Lewis and that white dude should have gone ballistic in the locker room and kicked somebody's [BLEEP] due to the lack of being targeted.

But Cam with those "Adonis" looks...

When we get Toby back, we'll be running the ball like the Cowboys of the early 90s
