What did you expect the bibber to do other than bib?

Quote:I think fickle is the wrong word... being fickle would be finding something to complain about after we won.

I think what you're seeing is reality setting in after expectations were set too high.

I know that's what I'm experiencing. I over evaluated the squad and coaches based on my hope that improvement was a given at a level they could not meet.

I think the collective bubble of hope burst last Sunday.
Fickle was the perfect term to describe this segment of the fan base.  They're usually just laying in wait for an opportunity to rip the team.  They'll try to find something to complain about, even in a win, or they'll just take a break until the next loss to pounce again.

This message board and every other team message board is never going to change. There are people who overreact. People who troll. People who act tough. People who are positive. And people who defend their team to the death. I'm not sure why everyone freaks out about everyone else. Nothing is ever going to change. Just let the people voice their opinions, who really cares? Obviously some people are so wrong and over the top, but again, that's never going to change. It's a forever moving cycle with EVERY message board.

Just sit back, say what you want, watch the Jaguars, and hope for the best.

Man. This is how i feel exactly.

These losses hurt.  They ruin my Monday's, and I actually despair over them more than real life problems. And my real life is just as tough as that of most people. I need to get a life.

Quote:Fans are gonna fan.

Perspective and patience is not something many fans will display. Those bragging rights and pride is real when you've talked up how good your squad is gonna be blindly. Most people who really follow the team and know football know this team had a huge hole to get out of and is just not there yet in talent and experience. They are on the upswing though.
I think you miss the point of the angst.  Had we scored 30 points and lost the fan base would have been disappointed but we would have moved on to this week.  What we saw on Sunday was exactly what we have been seeing for years.  Run up the middle, run off tackle, throw a short pass, punt.  As for perspective and patience I think this fan base has displayed an abundance of both and collectively we are tired of it.

Bibbers B. Bibbin
I don't think that it's so much a situation of many fans being 'fickle' so much as it is of fans buying into unsubstantiated hype about the team being better this year. We were led to believe over and over that the team is 'substantially improved' and in the meaningless preseason games, they did look improved; however, that's the point isn't it... we only look good when it doesn't matter.

No, I don't think the fan base is fickle...far from it. The Jags fans have proven themselves to be faithful to a fault, if anything; sticking with and believing the front office when they said that 'next year would be better'. But after year after year of being told to 'expect more' all we're getting is the same thing we've seen for the last seven years or so...substandard professional football.

Actually, the 'expect more' theme is pretty funny now, isn't it? I mean, we were told to 'expect more' and that's exactly what we got; more dropped passes, more interceptions, more uninspiring performances... I expected that kind of performance from a team full of first year rookies, but that's not the case now.

Unless things turn around, and I mean in a hurry, I'll have to adjust my season prediction from what was already a pathetic 6-10 to an unacceptable 4-12. If the team doesn't get it's stuff together I don't see us having a chance at a victory against anyone except maybe the bucs, the dirty birds, and splitting one with the tacks and Texicans. Given the play of the tacks rookie quarterback I'm not even sure we'll get any wins against them, so it could be another 3-13. If we go 4-12 or... gads...3-13... I will have no confidence in Gus Bradley as a head coach here. Time to move on.

I never expected more than 6-10.  But that was way worse than expected.  Scoring 9 points isn't going to win 6 games, it may not win 1.

I am not expecting them to be that bad the rest of the way.  If they are, then even my meager expectations were way too high.  That people (myself included) responded negatively to that showing does not surprise me.

I understand the angst but I disagree with you. I saw at least 20 plus yard completions dropped. I saw shots down the field come up short. I saw an effective run game get abandoned to early. I didn't see the same as old. We just got beat like we normally do.

I agree 9 points is atrocious but I also know Blake isn't a finished product either. I just don't mind having a new sense of optimism when a new regime arrives. If this one can't get it done then I'll have hope and optimism for the new group. It's cool to be critical but if you aren't breaking it into eras then you will never see a way out.

I don't buy into that same old jags stuff. To me this regime is just not getting the results yet. And once their time is up then it is. Then we will try another regime and go another path.

Jimmy Smith dropped passes, Carolina's receivers dropped passes, every team has dropped passes.  The difference is that those teams did not quit trying.  They continued to take shots down field and low and behold it payed off.

I too agree Blake is not a finished product but for the love of heaven play to the strengths he has right now.  He played tight after the pic 6 as if he was afraid to make another mistake.  If we are going to throw this season away then let the kid play wide open which seems to me to be his strength.
This has to be a Jags record for use of the word "fickle" in one thread.

And, someone even threw in a "pickle" for good measure.

This is a fickle record day.

It would just be nice to score a TD...

Stop being fickle..
Stop acting like some punks!!

A week? A week?? It took YEARS for me to become this fickle.

The funny part to me was almost everyone on this message board was saying that we have our franchise QB and all that right before the game, then after one game everyone jumped ship. If you actually believed he was then you wouldnt change your mind from one game.

But! But! But!

Thats just you. Some fans are born fickle.
