How does someone claim to be a Jaguar fan and not remember this?
Hey has anyone seen JAGANTIUS? He is noticeably absent...
Quote:How about him singlehandedly losing a game for the Jaguars at Tennessee in 2006? Costing the team a playoff spot. How about throwing an INT against Washington in overtime in 2010 when the team was still in playoff contention? Should I keep going?
God. That was the coldest game in team history. I froze my butt off so Garrard could throw a pick at the end. Everyone wanted to kill him when he did that.
So far, reggie williams and Matt jones are better. I pray that changes.

The worst was we had to hear another week of VINCE YOUNG WINS AGAIN!!!!
I don't even think he broke 100 yds passing against us that game.
As far as the WRs go, give me Wilford over all of them. That dude was CLUTCH.
Quote:David Garrard was drafted in 2002. He didn't have a good season until 2007, and was mediocre after that. Others have pointed out the meltdown in 2006. I also remember a game against the tacks in 2004 where he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in spite of the tacks being down to their 3rd string CBs. T
he Jags barely lost and missed the playoffs that year by one game.
If Bortles still isn't any good in 2019, then you can say Garrard was better. I'll wait.
Garrard was a mid to late round pick dude. He wasn't drafted to be the franchise.

What does this have to do with anything?

Probably the most complete team under JDR too, outside of QB.

Well qbs that are drafted mid to late rounds aren't expected to be better than one that is drafted 3rd overall and expected to be the franchise. Garrard wasn't great but he over achieved. Bortles is teetering on bust.

I was at that game too (coming in from New York for a yearly game at that point. So I was really upset about freezing my butt off for that garbage game.). Miserable game. As upset as I was about Garrard throwing that pick at the end, I was, and still am, more upset at Rashad Jennings taking his opportunity to play with MJD injured against a Redskins D-Line that I remember was missing basically everyone, apparently, and putting up 32 yards on 15 attempts. The fact that the defense allowed an offense manned by Rex Grossman at QB and Ryan Torrain at HB to put up 20 points was fairly frustrating to.
That was a miserable game all around and the game where I really began worrying about the team Gene had been putting together; that was such a much win game and the whole team collapsed under the pressure against an opponent that was doubling as an infirmary. Garrard's OT interception was just the icing on the cake.
Anyway, that aside, I'd still take Hurns and ARob over Jones and Williams, and it's not even close for me. Jones had one good year where he showed he could be a possession receiver and Reggie had one good year where he showed he could be a red zone target. Neither had any real big play ability, and they both struggled with drops (and Jones with drugs + suspensions). Hurns, while struggling with drops and fumbles, at least has that big play ability. For that simple reason, I'd take Hurns (and by default ARob, who I still have hope for. But at this point, it is tough to argue him over 2008, and what could have been had coke not gotten involved, Matt Jones).
To be fair, Reggie Williams & Matt Jones were both first round picks (williams a #9 overall pick is supposed to be great)! - 2004 & 2005
When your GM goes out and drafts to WRs in the first round back to back, the Offense passing is supposed to be good....
in your comparison you have two first round picks (one in the top 10) to a mid-late 2nd round pick WR & an undrafted WR just starting their 2nd year in the NFL with a new OC and a QB entering his 2nd year.
I personally would take ARob & Hurns (due to potential) because I know what the team got with Rum & Coke... (too soon?)

But it doesn't matter that he is comparing an undrafted free agent starting his second year in Hurns to two first rounders whose careers are over, right?

If the JDR era Jaguars had a top 10-15 QB we would have been in the playoffs every year outside of the 1st maybe.
Why bring this up? Of course I am going to take the current players over the past ones. And here is why.
1. Reggie was a pot head and Matt was a coke head - Both players were In/Out of the league faster than you could blink.
2. David was a solid QB but was never given the chance to start as he should have been - He had an injury problem and was not dependable - His job was easier because of Taylor and Jones-Drew coupled with a better defense that had a tendency to finish in the better half of the leauge's top 16 under Mike Smith's direction.
Thanks, but no thanks. What I've been frustrated about though is the lack of Justin Blackmon. I'd take him over Matt or Reggie any day, all day. You give Bortles a guy like Blackmon with his YAC ability and speed and it's a problem for any defense IMHO. You can say what you want about Blackmon. But the few times we did see him play were insanely awesome performances. He actually attacked the football with his hands and didn't wait for it. And his body never seemed out of position.
Give me Hurns and Matt with Bortles

How about the last playoff win by #9 how about 7 int returns for TD in less than 16 games for Bortles yea you win dude clearly

Dude. You asked the question. Don't get mad at me for your cluelessness.
