Quote:Lol, the only people that are saying it was embarrassing are opposing teams fans (mostly FSU fans.)In the realm of public opinion it was uncalled for, not just FSU fans. It's not about being yelled at. It's about how it was done and the fact it was televised nationally. It was embarrassing for the program and hence the apology by the coach.
Taylor made a tweet on Sunday that he loved Coach Mac, he screwed up, and Mac will make him a better person. It's not like he wasn't told a quarter or two before by Coach Mac that he doesn't want any more celebration penalties and then turns around and does the most blatant thing you could do to get a flag. Was it over the top? Maybe. Was it deserved? Yes.

I'm just enjoying the fact that this story won't die.

Just wait for the game Saturday at Kentucky. That clip will be shown half a dozen times at least. Especially when Taylor is on the bench to start the game.

Lol, says the FSU fan.
Jimbo cursed at Jameis for talking back to him on the sidelines. I believe the exact phrase was, "If you don't calm the [BLEEP] down, you're going to the bench." It was heated. I guess that one was ok though?
Who really cares? He was an idiot and did the worst thing possible 15 minutes after the coaches told them no celebration penalties. The guy is trying to change the culture there and there were tons of penalties during the Muschamp era.

Quote:Lol, says the FSU fan. What's exactly your point? Harsh language was used by jimbo, this coach is being criticized for appearing to almost lash out physically to his player and the what was said. Why do you feel the need to defend the gators at every turn ? What happened was wrong regardless of the team you cheer for.

Lash out physically. What a fabrication.
I would defend any coach that did the same thing. I hope you or your kids don't ever play football. I would hate for you to get yelled at. I've had coaches act exactly that same way and guess what, nobody cared.

I never had a coach act that ridiculous like McElwain did. If that was a routine thing, it would not be a national story.

If Jimbo Fisher did this both of you would be singing a different tune. It's blatantly obvious.
If a coach did that to my kid I would handle it the exact same way Fred Taylor did. I would say it might have been a tad over the top, but his son deserved to be yelled at. He did the stupidest thing he could have done at that moment. A team captain just got a celebration penalty shortly after coaches told the whole team not to do anything.
I bet he doesn't do it again.

First, he did not do it and very likely would not. And if he did, I would say it is embarrassing for the university. What he did Saturday is not normal behavior.

I am simply surprised that a grown man would allow himself to act like that. I mean, you do you and all but have you just given up on dignity and self-respect? Histrionics like that are for children who get told no in the Toy aisle, not for adults who are hired to be leaders.

It doesn't deserve to be a national story...only because the gators are nationally irrelevant to college football

That is what I think is most concerning. Even the most die hard Gators on local radio admitted that was over the top, unnecessary and made him look bad.
