Quote:Again, our definition of "something stupid" is worlds apart.
But what you're failing to realize is that they don't understand just how severely stupid what they did truly was. Punishing them for the rest of their lives at this young of an age doesn't make sense.

Community service is a perfect way for them to serve. Not putting something on their record and punishing them forever hindering their opportunity to better themselves. You need to allow kids to learn from their mistake so that they can turn it around. Not punish them forever.
Quote:Odds are, they are already ruined anyway based on their current course. What would speeding it up hurt?

If it was 25-30 year old fake scientists still in liberal indoctrination centers I would agree with you.  These are kids that probably just started growing hair in certain places...

Exactly.  It's called teaching.

The better question is, will they actually learn? Who will teach them? Their parents who let them get to this point?

Today's 2x4 is tomorrows rifle.

I'm willing to guess that you did some pretty stupid things at that age.  Did you learn?

Today's 2x4 is tomorrows rifle.
Now it's murder?

How do you know the parents are the problem? Are the parents always to blame? Kids have access to every kind of media now. They most likely found this out themselves.

I feel sorry for your kids if they ever make a big mistake one day. You'll probably disown them.
Quote:Yes, but they're learning about it from the Office of the Presidency. That changes things.
It's been happening long before Trump came into office. The decline of respect in this country has been going on for the past 30 years, at least compared to what it was when I was in middle school which was in the 80's. Trump's behavior doesn't help matters but you cannot blame it all on him. It starts at home.

In addition to the home, public schools public indoctrination centers are teaching and encouraging this kind of behavior.

Children are not taught about pride in their country and what this country has achieved in it's relatively short life-span.  They don't know or appreciate the enormous sacrifices that our forefathers went through or the generations before us went through in order to make this country what it is.

At the start of WWII, many real men as young as 15, 16 or 17 years of age lied about their age in order to sign up for military service.  That happened not only in that war, but in wars previous including the very war that won our freedom and the war that united us.

You won't see that nowadays.

Today our flag is burned and stomped upon, there are "protests" that take place that involve the destruction of both private and public property and this is deemed as "acceptable" by the far left in our population.  We've become an "entitled society" rather than a society of respect.

Kids today aren't taught about The Pledge of Allegiance and what it really means.  They aren't taught about why we stand up, place our hands over our hearts and/or salute during The National Anthem.  You constantly see comments about "old people annoying" somebody, yet those very "old people" probably sacrificed more so the young ignorant punk that makes a comment like that is able to and has the ability to do it.

As it relates to this thread, those kids should be punished by means that will help them, not harm them in the future.  Winger had it right.  Punish them by not only making them do something productive (community service), but also make them write an essay and force them to actually learn.  Something like that would change lives for the better and be beneficial to all.

Don't feel sorry for my children. They go to a school where they recite the pledge of allegiance with its original words. They will be A ok.

This statement does not mean anything.
Quote:They need to blow the dust off of Old Sparky and make an example out of these twits.

Seriously though, does anybody watch Watters World when he interviews these kids on the street? Our country is in serious trouble.

Wait are you saying we should use corporal punishment on them!?

I was kidding

So because they recite the pledge, it means they will never make a big mistake?

If only everyone knew this!
Fyi, this is what becomes of kids who throw projectiles at presidential motorcades.

I forget about schools being such an influence since I have never raised a kid to put through school. There are definitely more influences now than when we were kids. I remember when MTV in it's infancy freaked the adults out because of the bad influences. But it was okay to watch Archie Bunker. No one could pay me enough to raise a kid in our bat poop crazy society. I think I can understand why a lot of folks I know homeschool their kids.

Ok whew you had me worried

Gosh no, he wants capital punishment for them. "Spare the chair, spoil the child" don'cha know.

Well, you can't home school your child in college, and unfortunately that is where a lot of this brainwashing is taking place by these liberal extremist professors.

I wouldn't say it's the schools as much as it is social media.

The county I teach in is one of the better counties on the east coast. Lots of great teachers who aren't even touching the politics going on right now. However the kids go online and they can find literally anything. They find it faster than anyone on this board because they were born in it. (You merely adopted the dark... I was born in it)

Kids today never really have a chance to be a kid. My parents used to say "Go outside and don't come back until 7:30." Now, they just played on their IPads and stay inside. It's awful. My wife and I have noticed so many families going out to eat but they don't even talk to each other. Every single person is on their phone or IPad. Really sad.
