Im on the Hurns train... the guy has been the most consistent WR on this team since last preseason and totally hit the ground running and never looked back, make all the excuses you want.... but you know deep down Hurns has done nothing but impress and play like a #1 for the most part of his tenure as a Jaguar.

Robinson definitely has the talent to out perform Hurns in the long-term, but Hurns short-term is where id put my money until im proven otherwise on the field.

Lee has been a flat out disappointment for me... and im tempering expectations on him, until he performs.

According to Pro Football Focus review a few months ago they had Allen Robinson rated as Average

,
and Allen Hurns as Below Average
.

According to fans that have posted on many threads they stated that Allen Hurns production was based soley on his knowledge of the playbook from college under the same OC.  The media attention on him in week 1 was due to the lack of knowledge from the Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly on the undrafted rookie in game prep against the Jaguars.  As he probably was focusing more on the two 2nd round picks in WR Lee & Robinson as well as the veteran Shorts III.

According to the facts (stats) both WRs had 26 Receiving First Downs, both had one really long rec (Hurns 63 yards, Robinson's 54 yrds), both had close to the same Rec count (Hurns 51 to Robinson's 48), but Hurns had 16 extra throws (Targets) in his direction that were not caught (as both missed almost half of Bortles throws).  To be fair Hurns was double covered unlike Robinson on many of occasions, and knew he was taking a hard hit from the Safety in the process.  The average per catch for last season was Allen Hurns with 13.3 to Allen Robinson's 11.4 yards.  One big difference is Hurns had Six touchdowns to Robinson's two TDs.

Both WRs struggled with injuries last season, and hopefully both can remain healthy this year.

According to the media, and the Head Coach,  Allen Robinson is the better WR as shown on the Depth Chart history to date.  Allen Robinson is credited with better hands and ability to make a clutch catch, while many would view Allen Hurns as the faster more elusive deep threat (that many had hoped the Albino Tiger Lee would've been).

After watching last season I was all on the Allen Hurns bandwagon mainly because it was a good story of the underdog that worked his way up to the top, but he did struggle as a lot of rookies do as the season progressed. This year the media couldnt get enough of Allen Robinson in camp, but let's look at the PreSeason stats this year;

Allen Robinson had 7 catches for 103 yards an average of 14.7 no fumbles, and no TDs. (2 catches past 20 yards under 40) His best game being against the GIants with his 36 yard longest catch of the PreSeason.

Allen Hurns caught all 4 targets against the Lions and a touchdown until he exited with 'Hip Tightness' but he is expected to play against the Panthers this week.

The Jaguars will likely not have more than 2 WRs on the field in most occasions (which is good since Lee & Bryan Walters the 4th & 5th Wrs are both injured).  I expect that the ball might be thrown equally between Robinson, Lewis, Hurns, and Harbor (maybe he gets more since he seems to get open a lot if only he could catch them)!  I think Greene might get a few too.

-------------------------------------------------------

The following was from the source;  Florida Times Union

Robinson saw zero targets inside the 15-yard line last season and just five red-zone looks all together. Both of those numbers were certain to increase even with Thomas in the lineup, but Robinson should become the focal point of the passing offense with Thomas on the shelf. Robinson averaged nine targets a game last season as a starter.

Maybe its simply perception or bias, you either like one guy or the other more for whatever reason but on paper & from watching the games they don't look that far off from each other.

To me its hard to compare because I think they are two different types of receivers.

If I am forced to chose, I'm going to have to go against everyone and remain with Hurns.  I just like watching that guy more I guess.
ARob

You can always change it to Bortles2Allen. That should cover you for longer then the current one did.

Hitman Hurns

New Jaguar themed cocktail: The Soward-Henne

4oz Hennessy Cognac

2oz sour mix

2oz Curaçao

Splash of lime juice

Garnish with lemon wedge

Not to be confused with the Henne-Sour, which is more along the lines of the other sours: Whiskey Sour, Gin Sour, Brandy Sour and the (Pete) Pisco Sour.

I'm still hoping he surprises us and shows up in teal and black.

what kind of a feel good comeback story would that be?????

I made worse decisions than Justin has,

It took me 20 years to learn my lesson and be a man.

But I did it.

And im now successful

HERES TO JUSTIN DOING THE SAME THING!
Lets see who starts for the Panthers.

Norman is a pretty good CB and if he plays, he will most likely be matched up with ARob. I don't even think it's close in terms of skill level with Arob being the clear winner but if they focus their attention on him, Hurns could have a big day.

I actually think Lewis and Harbor have a pretty good day too.

I just threw up all over my screen.
Quote:Agreed.  Hurns is the burner who can put that sick double move on a CB.  Robinson (atleast last year) is more consistent.  We shall see.  Hopefully, they both kill it Sunday, and we'll debate who is the better number 1.
Hurns is NOT a burner.  He has a knack for getting wide open, but he's not a speed guy.  That would be Lee.

This. Hurns runs really good routes. I wouldn't classify him as a burner.
Neither one of them has been doing a very good job of holding on to the football this year, so I'll say Marcedes.

You should petition the Mods and see if you can change, JW did after all...

You can start an epic sideline thread about it.

Here's my suggestion: BortlesToAR15

Heads would explode. I always secretly pull for Marcedes...

I have a feeling that in the absence of Julius Thomas, Marcedes is going to thrive.  It's a contract year for him, and an opportunity to show what he's capable of as a complete TE.  I think he'll rise to the challenge with Thomas out for a few weeks, and he'll be targeted pretty heavily as the outlet.  Hopefully he doesn't rediscover stone hands.

I didn't realize this is a contract year for him... if I remember correctly, he was superb during his last contract year.

Man, I hope he has a break out game Sunday.

Call it what you want but Hurns always gets open on the deep route because of his route running skills, which to me, would classify him as burning the defense. AROB is a possession guy. They have 2 different skill sets. I agree about Lee. He can sprint right passed a CB. Can't wait for all of these guys to be healthy on the field.
A-Rob.  he'll get more targets and this year will be his coming out party

allen robinson for sure.. Dont get to exited we need to get to the redzone first..

lets watch the game and then talk about it..
