He spent last year on IR and didn't do so hot in the pre-season, but he was also regarded as a potential 1st rounded (slipped to the 3rd) last year and is still very young and raw. Plus, he's a Jax native. Could be worth picking up as he is also practice squad eligible...

Thoughts? I'm honestly shocked that Houston is giving up on him, until I looked at their D-line. He is probably more a victim of the depth chart and the need to have more players at other positions than a victim of a lack of talent, considering he was hurt all last year.

I seem to recall that DC scouted him pretty heavily prior to the draft
Could be our NT of the future...assuming he's healthy.
I'm glad he was a bust for Houston.

Serves them right for being the Texans.

It would be neat if he could now salvage his career with another team.

When he's been on the field, he's been horrid.
Im glad to see the Texans getting some painful drafts.

Another member of the ND hype show.
Nix, mallett, jadeveon clowney were all part of the hope.... Not looking too great.

It looked good on paper. Such is the luck of the NFL.
Nix claimed by Giants per PFT.

Clowneys played 4 games so far.  That is like saying Fowler doesn't look that great.

Didn't really see that coming. I was slightly upset when Texans grabbed him. Thought he could be a good player

Played against him in high school. Did not see what the big deal was about him.

Who was the best player your H.S, team went up against in the seasons that you were on the team?

Considering that the Jacksonville area has produced many very good to great players over the years,   you probably saw a number of impressive players.

This turned out to be a short stay with the Giants:

Sounds like he may need to take the year off to get completely healthy, then try to make his comeback next offseason.

Agreed.

Unless Louis Nix can get at least relatively healthy and in the best football shape of his life,  he's almost certainly going to be out of the league as a player, permanently.

One guy was Corey Addison. He was a safety for Andrew Jackson and he also played QB. We played them for homecoming my senior year and he tore us a new one. I'll never understand why we scheduled Jackson as our homecoming game. He went on the play at South Carolina but I don't know if he panned out there.

Another guy was Lucious Lee, a running back for Baker County. He was a 5'7" 215 lb wrecking ball. He ran all over our defense. Guys were almost scared to tackle him. I don't know if he ever made it to the college level.
