Quote:I would say WR Neal Sterling's performance against the Redskins this Thursday could help determine if Dave Caldwell puts him on the Practice Squad or gives him an active spot.

“I try not to worry too much about the future, but I’m confident I can help this team,” Sterling said during the Jaguars’ off-season program. “We have a young receiving core, but I don’t think they drafted us to sit on the sideline. They obviously see that we have potential to maybe help the receiving core and help the team.”  - Source: Florida Times Union

My gut feeling is he gets an active spot.

I don't see him making the active roster unless he's an absolute beast in this game as he'd have to replace Walters for the #5 WR spot. That's no easy task. The vet understands route running, knows where the first down marker is, has legit speed, and catches everything thrown his way. He also knows special teams.

Good point, B. Walters has looked pretty good so far but I dont know I have this gut feeling that Neal is going to suprise us.

I think he hits the practice squad, maybe Double Secret IR.

True, but he's expected to play against the Redskins.

I'm sure he can suffer a season-ending hangnail against Washington if he needs to.
