Making his final journey to Lovetron.  One of the true characters of the game.  RIP dude.

I was a Celtics fan growing up so I really didn't care for the Sixers.  That said, I've always like D. Dawkins !!

One of the few players to succeed in making the transition from HS to the NBA.

Never realized he was from Orlando.

When I was a sophomore in high school, Orlando Evans knocked our basketball team out of the state tournament. Darryl was truly a man among boys. Wow, 58 is too young to die.

He called his first backboard glass shattering dunk "The Chocolate-Thunder-Flying, Robinzine-Crying, Teeth-Shaking, Glass-Breaking, Rump-Roasting, Bun-Toasting, Wham-Bam, Glass-Breaker-I-Am-Jam."

RIP Darryl Dawkins

Met him just last August at the Indiana state fair. Cool guy.

Sadly another 76ers great player,  Moses Malone,  also recently passed away.   He was 60.

In less than the last year, all three centers from their last championship team have passed away. Moses Malone, Darryl Dawkins, and Caldwell Jones.

It's indeed been a difficult year for the 76ers family and their fans.  I don't recall what Caldwell Jones' health situation was prior to his passing.   But in the cases of Darryl Dawkins and Moses Malone,  the news of their deaths were close to shocking at least on this end.
