Yes, graphic novels are literature. In fact, authors of graphic novels don't refer to the images as drawing, but as writing in pictures.


It actually takes a certain method to be able to effectively read a graphic novel. You have to be able to synthesize both the images and the words in order to create meaning.


Studies have shown that students who read graphic novels have comparable growth to students who read chapter books. I'd say that counts.
I read Watchmen recently. Atticus Finch was nowhere to be found, unless he was the Comedian....that guy was racist.

So what you are saying is, looking at pictures/comics is the same thing as actually reading?   :blink:
