Did Michael Bennett play tonight?

Box score has him with 3 tackles.
We need a better strength and conditioning coach. Broken fingers and mcl tears are unacceptable.
Defense was looking really weak. That probably has something to do with our D-line not playing, but if Sen'Derrick doesn't come back the same player and with Clemons getting older... Oh boy we could have a terrible pass rush. Coverage on OBJ was great, Eli was struggling, but our run defense looked mediocre.

No doubt. This team clearly has zero reliable depth if someone goes down.

We need to cross our fingers for a healthy Bortles. We could go 0-16 with Henne, hes looking worse as the years go on. If that's possible.

I think it's actually better than in recent years. Giants OL is solid with that statue Manning back there. We don't really blitz nearly as much as the other teams have been in Preseason I think because we are actually evaluating our players individually to see if they can get home by themselves. Not having Fowler sucks but we usually see good pressure when it counts. I just hope Marks comes back somewhat close to what he was. I don't think it's fair to assume he will be as good but it's clear the DL isn't the same without him. He's like Warren Sapp for our defense.
Those drops from ARob were concerning. We possibly could've had a TD if he was able to catch those bombs. Also, was Hurns the one that dropped that 40 yard triple man coverage bomb? I didn't get to see who it was.

Is this the proper thread to point out that Andre Branch is absolutely useless as a football player?

It is now, lol. Andre is looking bad and literally does nothing. It sucks when we have to rely on scheming to get us sacks. You'd hope a high pick out of Clemson would at least put some pressure on the QB. He doesn't even take a step past the OL.

He takes a step right into the OL and then flails about. So hard to watch.

We all know Branch is only good when he's schemed specifically to rush the passer whether that be on a stunt or delayed rush or whatever. Since there's not much scheming and game planning going on in preseason its expected he'll be Mr. Invisible. If Fowler didn't get hurt there would have been a pretty good chance he would have gotten cut in favor of someone like Cap Capi.

WINDMILL BRANCH!

Yeah that flail thing he does... So bad.

I won't rule out him Still getting cut. Put Ambrister in at Sam and make give Skuta Branch's Leo reps. There is absolutely no way he is any worse.
Quote:Well, Bortles looked good but Henne was awful. Game ended 12-22, Giants. Receivers couldn't hold onto the ball, tackling was sloppy and the backups looked like they weren't even trying. Discuss.

Injury Update:

Arrelious Benn - has suffered a broken Clavicle, takes 6-12 weeks to heal.

Demetrius McCray - (knee)

LaRoy Reynolds - suffered an MCL Sprain.

Josh Wells - dislocated thumb

Damian Copeland - dislocated shoulder

Khairi Fortt - Meniscus

That's tough news for the injury-prone Benn. Looks like Tony Washington and Bryan Walters are now competing to take his final roster spot at WR.

Pray that McCray's injury is minor. He's one of the best young corners in this league, and a top player on this roster.

LeRoy Reynalds may return as an MCL sprain is like a 3-week injury.

Put a stint on Wells thumb and he should be ok considering he's merely on the roster as depth.

Copeland and Fortte are scrubs so no biggie. Go ahead and waive-injured these two.

Health on the starting D-line is definitely our biggest concern.  I like our starters, but don't like the back ups as starters if someone goes down.  Too much time in the pocket tonight.

With McCray moving his leg and seemingly able to walk off a little on his own power, I'm hoping it's not serious.
A broken clavicle will heal within 4-8 weeks. Should the Jags place Benn on IR w/designation to return, should they carry him injured on the roster with no IR designation so they can use that on someone else but risk being short an extra back up WR for about 4 weeks, or should they cut him with an injury settlement and lean on Washington/Walters/Closs battling it out to become that 5th/6th WR?

With his injury history no way would I burn IR/Return on him. Can you imagine if he came back later this year and ended up hurt again?
