I don't carry a bag, so it doesn't affect me.

Of course I haven't been to a movie theater in 5 years either.

I guess it's mostly an excuse to catch those people sneaking in their own reasonably-priced snacks.

I proudly pay the food costs at the cinemas.

It's the only way they can afford to stay open.

The greedy studios take most if not all of the ticket revenue.

That being said, I don't find there to be but just a few movies worth going to see in the movies in any given year.

Quote:How many mass shootings have there been at gun shows, gun stores, and police stations vs "gun free zones" like military recruiting centers, schools, malls, and theaters? These people are rarely suicidal, they're sociopathic. They don't just want to die, they want to leave a mark when they go, and picking a hard target would prevent that.
Look up "suicide at shooting ranges".

Good post

facts are facts. Places where criminals know that people are packing heat stay crime free. Criminals are wimps, they attack places where they know/think that no one will have any protection.

Like military bases?

you mean a place where only the MP can carry around a firearm, and not every member of the military?

poor argument there, buddy

Yes, gun free zones like domestic military bases.

Yes, infrequent suicides, no mass shootings.
So what if they find my cache of M&M's and Twizlers?

Some crimes warrant capital punishment.

Serious question. Is it a crime to sneak food in? I've never done it, never noticed a sign that prohibited it.

If it is, my wife and I have committed what probably amounts to a felony at this point Tongue
They checked my friend's fanny pack on Friday when we went to the movies. Haha

Their concession prices should be a crime, I understand the studios take the lions share of the ticket sales revenue the first few weeks, but that sounds like a theater/studio issue.

Lion's share?

Depending on the film, studios keep around 80% initially, sometimes higher. For huge-ticket films (think Star Wars), the studio keeps 100% of the ticket price for the opening week. That's more than just a lion's share.

I refuse to buy movie theater drinks or snacks based upon simple economics--that $7.50 combo of a 20 oz. bottle of water and Junior Mints costs me a total of $1.00 if I bottle the water at home and buy the Junior Mints at Walgreens on the way there. I completely understand why concession prices are so high, though. The vast majority of a theater's revenue is based upon getting you to that snack bar for a $4 drink, a $6 bag of popcorn and, if they're really lucky, an $8 hot dog.
As an Aurora, Colorado resident, I haven't gone into a theatre without a weapon on me since the shooting.

You can keep your metal detectors and bag checks, there will be no mass shootings in any theatre I'm in.

Not how it works.

The studios have all the power.

So, you can choose to support those who keep the doors open, or choose not to and contribute to their closing.
