It's hard to say at this point. I would be shocked to see Jeff Tuel get cut. :woot:

If Cap Capi takes a DE spot, Branch may be the odd man out.
Redfern looked good while Myers struggled, so I think the nonsense BCC stirred up is only about half possible.
If Banger and Branch are cut... how many Gene Smith guys are still here? 1? (Alualu immediately came to mind after posting.)
Pasztor, Henne, and Posluszny were brought in by Gene.

DEFINITELY NOT GERHERT.
Toby was a key signing last year and there is NO way they will let him go now that he's looking healthy.
Remember, Yeldon is injury prone and DRob can't carry the rock all year.
We need to go 3-deep in halfway decent quality and each Toby-Yeldon-DRob represents unique qualities.
I WANT TO SEE A HEALTHY TOBY.

I'm thinking we keep Scobee for another year solely for his consistency on extra points.
Now sure if the front office is ready to take a risk at this point in time.
..... Scobee will definitely be gone when Blake gets paid.

I agree with your assessment. The tandem of Denard Robinson and Toby Gerhart can be extremely flexible. If T.J. Yeldon pans out, then it would be even more so. So many people are crowning Yeldon without actually seeing him take a snap in the NFL.

Poz? Good grief he's probably the best defensive player on the team. Are you just trying to instigate debate?

Branch is always on the bubble and then he somehow manages to break out at the end of preseason and hangs around; maybe not this year. Ziggy Hood and Tyson Alualu come to mind if we're looking for a big surprise cut. Josh Evans is also probably about due to be cut, he just looks outmatched out there. Storm Johnson at this point would be the least surprising after his performance Friday night.

Ziggy Hood's job is in jeopardy but I don't think that's much of a surprise. Storm's bags are already packed, so that's even less of a surprise.
Scobee and/or Anger could be beat out, but I don't think it will happen. Redfern just isn't as good as Anger, and Scobee rose to the challenge with all four kickoffs through the end zone.
No way Poz is cut, short of him doing something really stupid off-field. He was the guy making most of the tackles Friday night.

I'm just making note of the amount of depth that we have at LB; and this might force Caldwell to get rid of Poz. I'm not saying that he's going to be gone, nor do I want him to be gone. Heck, people have already forgotten that Caldwell is the guy who traded Monroe and let Daryl Smith walk in FA. As far as Caldwell, and the players on the team should be concerned, everyone's job is on the line. Especially in a "make or break" season such as this.

Let's just wait it out a few more weeks and see what develops.

I think the issue is that most people see LB as our thinnest position.

Remember, it's surprise cut, not obvious cut. I pick Gerhart due to the money he's set to receive. If Pierce can impress, he's a younger, faster version of Gerhart that costs significantly less (2 mil a year). Your left with Yeldon, Robinson, Pierce, and Grant.
Pierce
<b>Age / DOB: </b>
(<b>24</b>) / 5/10/1991
<b>Ht / Wt: </b>
6'0' / 230
Gerhart
<b>Age / DOB: </b>
(<b>28</b>) / 3/28/1987
<b>Ht / Wt: </b>
6'0' / 231
If you check out the preseason stats, they are virtually identical in yards, ypc, and receptions. As long as they think Bernard has turned a corner with his off the field issues, he's a cheaper alternative.
That said, the Jags aren't having any cap issues, so there's no real reason to cut ties with Gerhart just for financial reasons. They'll keep the backs that are best for the franchise, regardless of pay.

I would say Poz or Alualu.
Or I should say I want them to cut Poz and Alualu. Well not so much Poz. Trade him to San Fran. We can get anything from them.

Chief, I'm not sure Poz is close to the best player on D in this team, currently. If he is, then problem in da Ville.

Trading or cutting Poszluszny just doesn't make any sense.
And they just re-signed Alualu a few months ago and currently Marks and Odrick are injured and not playing. In what scenario do they release Alualu?
