You'd be surprised how much Madden ratings effect a player's career. That's how Vince Young managed to survive so long.

I remember when Madden had Matt Leinart rated low and I think all of his video incompletions lead directly to his demise in the NFL. I mean seriously, imagine playing a game in which you're portrayed as slow and can't complete passes. That's going have a direct effect on the field.
Conversely, Madden took a liking to Jones-Drew which lead to a really good career for MJD.
