I am also hearing that Bortles may throw a ball. Standby.

Jags have consistently said they'll compete for the job. They're competing. They've consistently said they'll swap starts from week to week. They're swapping.
What's the issue?

I haven't seen a wardrobe malfunction from the Roar yet. Oh, you mean the center thing...

I hope this makes both of them play hard and earn the spot thus making our Center spot better.

Odds are Bowanko starts tonight, Wiz starts next week, and whoever starts game 3 is most likely your starter. I wouldn't read too much into a preseason week 1 depth chart.

Still better than Brewster, reminds me more of whimper though

Quote:If our starting offensive line is Joeckel Beadles Bowanko Linder Parnell, that's a bit of a letdown. If Cann can't beat out Beadles, and Wiz can't beat out Bowanko, I'll be a little disappointed. Especially since our offensive line was so bad last year.Cann is a rookie. He'll probably supplant Beadles this year, perhaps even in week one, but I won't be disappointed at all if he starts as the top backup at guard (and maybe the only backup at guard).
Wiz is coming off a pretty serious shoulder injury. Don't know if that's still affecting him at all. Regardless, what others have said on here is almost certainly what will happen. Bowanko will start preseason week one, Wiz will start week two, and whoever's been more impressive in camp and games to that point will start week three and, probably, week one of the regular season.

Am I the only one who thinks it's absurd that this is the second consecutive season with a battle at center? It's a hugely important position, I feel like there shouldn't be this much uncertainty 2 years in a row.

But in this case, it's a true battle for the best to surface, unlike last year when it was Scrap vs. Heap just to have a body...

It's a hugely important position, I feel like there shouldn't be this much uncertainty 2 years in a row. There was a real effort to bring Alex Mack in last offseason, if you'll remember. The team recognizes how important the center position is, but unlike apples, hornet's nests and money (if you're Jerry Jones), centers do not grow on trees. Between Bowanko and Wiz, I think that the long-term solution for the center position is on the roster. If not, hey, Mack can void his contract with Cleveland at the end of this season.

I'm not worried. I like both guys we've got competing. Much better situation than last year for sure, with Bowanko having a year under his belt vs being the only option as a rookie.

Wiz has been healthy enough to practice. But it's been Bowanko who has been running with the 1s. It looks like he has the edge over Wiz currently. I hope he develops along with Bortles from year 1 to 2.

He stepped on the LG's foot.
The LG got turned by the defender and caused Bowanko to trip.

Bowanko will be our starting Center based on what I saw out of him tonight.

Bowanko was slightly better tonight only because Wiz had that penalty. They both played very well.

Linder and Parnell are gonna be tremendous on that right side.

After the Brewster disaster of last year, it's nice to have two good options
