Typically the 1st preseason game is not much more than a glorified scrimmage against another roster. Further the starters usually have limited reps in this first preseason game. That said, what will you be focusing upon when the Steelers come to town on Friday?

Clearly, the play of the offensive line and specifically the play of Luke Joeckel will be one area of interest.

I also want to see some of the young Dlineman like Ryan Davis, Chris Smith, Andre Branch, Michael Bennett rush the Steeler QB. So far these young lineman have had only controlled practices, but against the Steelers, these young guys can be unleashed.

Question: Who will be the most impressive Dlineman against the Steelers?

Another area, I want to see is the WR competition for the 4th, 5th and 6th WRs.

We can assume that Chad Henne will play QB for at least 1 Qtr and I am assuming he will target his favorite WR Tony Washington, but I want to see a real competition between Washington and Greene. Who is the better prospect on the field?

I am very interested in seeing how Nick Marshall does against the Steeler WRs and I would also like to see if Jeremy Harris will give the coaches any reason to keep him on the roster.

I am interested in watching Armbrister man the MLB spot.

These are a few of the people I will be monitoring during the game.

Who will you be watching and what are you looking for from these players?

Better pass/run blocking.  Throws down field and not necessarily 50 yard bombs (though that would be nice to see), but looking to get bigger chunks.  Also, would like to see Bortles go through his progressions and not force throws.  Make throws when defenders back is to the QB.  We are seeing that a lot in camp.  I want to see it transition to an actual game.

Defensively, no missed assignments by the first team.  No wide open receiver and with zero defenders in site.  Obviously we want to see pressure on the QB, but I really want us to look sound.  Players being where they need to be to make plays and a turnover would be nice.

You nailed them all. I hope our reserves play better than the last 2 years. I believe our starters are very good.NO INJURIES
A stronger OLine. I don't know if our DLine is that much better this year or the OL is stagnant, but I wasn't overwhelmed watching the scrimmage. If the offense can't keep people off of/away from Bortles it's not going to matter what he can do. He'll get sacked, throw interceptions or have to throw away the ball.
A good clean "game".

Improvement over last year.

Penalties and 50/50 bounces going our way and not the Steelers way.

A first down or two on the first drive would be amazin
The view from my new seats.
In a broad view, in their limited playing time, would like to see the 1st team OL be effective.  This element will be a key cog for a successful season.

On a player level, I would like to see some guys on this team show they can be playmakers. This team has had a severe lack of playmakers over the past few years.

No injuries.
I want to see the 1st team offense move across midfield even if they come up empty on points.

I want to see the 1st team run game easily make some 5-6 yard gains.

I want to see Joekel play well.

And of course....NO INJURIES.

O-line improvement and checking out Sergio at FS

Also - Kick and punt return performances.  Would be good to see someone begin to take ownership at PR  - and for Denard to show us why they have confidence in him at KR.

So TDs?
O-line give Bortles a chance for a 3 or even a 5 step drop - in otherwards give him a little time to work. Our backs able to run the ball well. And get consistant and more yardage in the passing game. And yes the main thing don't get hurt.

I am only looking for as few injuries as possible...

Bravo Sir.
I want to see solid drives from the offense. Lets see Bortles get time to complete a row of passes. On the defensive side lets get pressure. Keep their QB, throwing inaccurate passes leading to picks or sacks. I'd also like to see Josh Scobee take at least one 50 yard kick. Even at 75 he'll make those happen lol.

No injuries.

Signs of improvement from Joeckel and Cyprien.

Improvement across the offensive line, 1st to 3rd team. Last year's preseason, our back ups didn't even look good against other teams back ups. I wanna feel confident we have good depth.

Improved special teams.

And obviously, improvement from Bortles
Compete, get better, and take advantage of opportoonies.
