Turns out she leaked Top Secret SCI information on her illegal personal server while serving as the Secretary of State.

The FBI has now taken on the investigation of the matter, so hopefully justice will be served.

Thoughts?

I saw the report on Fox. Let me know when something is actually decided. This thing has been going on forever and I'm sure it will be strung out for even longer.

I'll never vote for Hillary, but I'm always hesitant to invest too much energy on a Fox story about her. They want so badly to get her on something - it's painfully obvious. I respect Brett Baier, but they invest as much in trying to nail Clinton as the other networks do in trying to avoid the story.

Somewhere in the middle is probably the truth.

It's not just Fox News reporting on this issue- nor is it Republican propaganda.

Anybody with any knowledge about the intelligence community and how it operates knows that this is a serious violation of federal law, and she and members of her staff could face serious jail time for their incompetent behavior of putting previously classified material on an unclassified server. The Russians and Chinese know more about Hillary Clinton's emails than we do right now...

Well, I'm not in the intelligence community.

Can someone please explain to us dullards in simplified terms how big a deal this is?
Potentially looking at multiple felonies

That's the problem - we don't know how big a deal this is.

Since during a presidential run everything is politicized you have the right wing telling us Hillary belongs in jail and the left wing telling us there is nothing to see here.

Clinton ain't going to jail, we know that. But that's not the point. The object is to inflict political damage regardless of the actual facts and thus far these events have certainly done that. Somewhere Joe Biden is smiling.

Actually the big deal is secure documents were improperly handled.  Since we don't know what exactly was in those documents we don't know the extent of this security breach.  However when I see how General Petraeus was prosecuted for pretty much the same thing it does make me scratch my head.

I do agree though she is not going to jail and somewhere Biden is smiling as he is biding his time.

While both cases are serious and similar, the Patraeus case, in my opinion was pretty bad because he willingly let another (his mistress/girlfriend) see the material. That's not good.

I'm also wondering why Clinton would have been so adamant about not having Top Secret data on her personal server. She didn't seem to leave open the possibility. Wouldn't you think she would have had someone check about 100 times before she made such a statement? Fortunately or unfortunately we'll be hearing much more about all this, with an attempt to keep it hot as long as possible.

Joe Biden is probably calling his big money guys as we speak.
I think this helps Bernie most of all...

You may be correct - but I don't think so. I don't think the Dems will nominate a Socialist (a Socialist!), I don't care if they find out Hillary forwarded all her e-mails to V. Putin.

How do you think Bernie will do in the South Carolina primary? Other southern states? Maybe the Dems don't think they need the South but Bernie running will be a hard sell - unless the GOP is stupid enough to nominate Donald Trump, or Ted Cruz. But it would be entertaining.

What's Biden got to lose? He can come across as Hillary Lite without all the baggage. He can seem to be a likable guy. Why not give it a shot?
The way that this is looking to me, Hillary is in full damage control mode right now, not only for political reasons, but for legal reasons.  There has been some "chatter" on some blogs that the server handed over had been "professionally wiped".  I'm not going to link any of it until something more "official" comes out, but if that's the case it could be cause to bring charges up.

Something to think about, and I'm only going from memory so I could be off.

It seems to me that she first said that "there was nothing classified" in her emails.

Then I seem to recall statements such as "there was nothing marked classified" in any emails.  However, the little bit that we know regarding the content of some of the emails suggests to me that they came from sources within the intelligence community that would certainly mark material that has any potential to be classified as such.  People that work in jobs like that simply don't make "mistakes" like that.

Then she said something along the lines that nothing in the emails was "classified at the time".

My personal suspicion is that she knowingly exchanged classified information on her email server.  I suspect that she is setting up people to be the "fall guy" so to speak, and try to deflect her guilt to some "staffer" or other person.  If it's true that the servers were "professionally wiped", then it's clearly an obstruction of an investigation.

Biden is a complete Bozo who makes Dan Quayle look like a Rhodes Scholar in comparison.

I still think the Dems will eventually settle on Michelle as a proxy. Vote for Michelle and give Barack a 3rd term!

She's one of the ruling class. She will NEVER face criminal prosecution. Heck, Sandy Berger was videotaped stuffing classified documents in his socks and was only given a slap on the wrist.

I know, the main stream media love attacking Bernie for being a socialist. I get it, that's scary to the corporate media crowd. But, we're all living in a socialist country. I don't know, I think the more people that listen to Bernie the more will like him.

As for the south, he may have a hard time in the south, but every democratic candidate will.

My thoughts are, if the republicans can consider trump, they may be open to a big change in terms of what Bernie has to offer and speaks about...
Just to back up what jagibelieve said, I remember Hillary saying that nothing major was in those emails.

I specifically remember he downplaying it by saying it was mostly grandma stuff

By "he" are you referring to me?   :woot:

You underestimate Joe Biden. I'm not saying he'll get the nomination but, despite his goofiness, he's head and shoulders above Quayle.

Yet General Petraeus was "the fall guy" and had his career and reputation ruined for far less.

I think that with Hillary facing possible criminal charges, she's pretty much done politically.  I don't think that even the media can save her from what I've seen lately.  What is sad though, is even though her political career could potentially be over, she will never face criminal charges.

Once Joe Biden throws his hat into the ring, it's going to pretty much be his nomination to lose.  Will he win a general election?  That depends on who the republicans eventually nominate.
