Quote:It's a "hole"....and really?

I think he's just upset that Gerhart isn't the hole package.
I'm going to sort of agree with the OP.

I'm not a fan of Gerhart at all. Call me what you want, but this guy has to show me SOMETHING in preseason.

I'm leaning towards Yeldon, Robinson, and Johnson.

What on earth has Johnson ever shown besides being worse than Gerhart?

This is what is so silly. People don't like a guy so they think the job should just be given away to someone who has done even less to earn the position.
I need to see more, but Pierce thus far looks better than Johnson to me.  In my mind, it's too early to judge Gerhart.

DRob and Yeldin are clearly the best two backs.

I'd rather keep the developmental RB. What I've seen from Gerhart has been awful and I'm normally a guy who is positive about every single player on the freakin roster. I saw some life from Johnson last season and in the scrimmage.

We will see in preseason.
Gerhart is not good.  That dude goes down with the slightest nip.

Toby and Storm can get ghost. We have Grant, Pierce, Robinson, Yeldon and Alualu
lol forgot all about slowby, just assumed he would be cut.

The FO signs and cuts a LOT of players. Some work out, some don't. The ones that are signed to long-term contracts with big signing bonuses should be judged a little more harshly than ones that are reasonable signings. Gerhart falls into the latter group. Get over it.
Quote:What is it exactly you see in Toby Gerhart????? I'm willing to give him a few preseason games to show something but cmon, it's just not there. If we keep him over Pierce or Storm I think we are making a mistake. I know he's pretty versatile but he has no vision, unless he gets a gaping whole he just runs right into the line of scrimmage.

Yes, for a front office that emphasizes analytics, i think they departed from their ways (historical stats) on this one.

Only thing im worried about is him getting hurt again. Everytime he gets tackled it looks like he has broken both legs. He doesn't know how to take a hit/fall correctly.

Remember when we all thought Slowby was gonna rush for 1200 yds and score a bunch of touchdowns? People even started calling him "Gerhorse" hahaha. Time to take this one to the glue factory.

All we have as Jag fans is hope. Once that is gone, there is nothing left. Unfortunately, most people on here hold out hope long past its expiration date.
If Toby ends up being here what he was in Minny, good for us. He may not be a full time starter, but should prove to be a really good back up/short yardage. Why we have to cut him now makes no sense.

They did?

"WE ALL"  ????   Please go back to the 30 page thread and exclude me from the category noted above.
I think the front office has a vision of what they want him to be for this team, and that's why he is still in the mix. Wasn't he being compared to Marshawn Lynch before the season started last year? Seriously?

They want him to be a big physical back that can plow through defenders for 4 yards per rush. Ain't gonna happen. We have an offensive line that still looks a little suspect and we need a back that can find the hole, make an adjustment if necessary, give a little juke, or beat 'em with speed. They want Toby to fit this offense. My guess is that it will become painfully obvious soon that it is time to shift gears on Gerhart, and only use him as a fullback or certain strategic situations.
My biggest critique of the FO is Henne..  he should have been replaced

If your biggest problem with the team is a backup QB, they're doing it right.
