Anyone else going to see Straight Outta Compton next weekend?   I saw a recent NWA documentary on Ganglands a few months ago and it was pretty good.

Also, we actually just drove through Compton via Rosecrans Ave 2 weeks ago when we were on our SF-LA-SD California vacation.  Luckily on a Tuesday morning, it was quite uneventful.

I want to see it....will be a pretty interesting story on how they portray all the characters.

To know that truck incident with Sug happened during the shooting of the movie is crazy.

LOL .... can't understand whey Cle "Bone" didn't testify against Sug Knight  :woot:

" Cle “Bone” Sloan told detectives it was Knight who ran over him and another man outside a Compton burger stand in January, killing the other man and seriously injuring Sloan. But when Sloan later testified about the incident at Knight’s preliminary hearing in April, he refused to say Knight ran him over."
I wanna see it but, I'll wait until it's on HBO or something.

Yes. Going to see it next week.

Not really my thing but I'll catch it on redbox. The guys they got playing them sound pretty close to authentic on the previews.

Can't get much closer than cubes son to play a young cube, Easy E's character looks just like him too

ha  I didn't know it was his son! I just kept watching the preview and I was like man where did they find that guy? lol
I'll be interested in seeing it. This will be a new story for me, I did not follow N.W.A. or that music scene. I've never really been a fan of them, or rap in general, but they certainly had an impact.

If they had made a movie about Public Enemy, I would be the first person in line. Didn't care as much about NWA but I appreciate their work.

On a side note, is it me or was this a crappy summer of movies? Trainwreck and Inside Out were the only two movies I thought were good. The rest of the lot was hot garbage. That new Fantastic 4 movie got a 9% approval on Rotten Tomatoes - ouch.

The Gift looks like that might be good though. Any feedback on that from anyone who saw it?

Madmax wasnt terrible even though there was virtualy no dialogue.

I agree with you, but I liked Mission Impossible too.

I don't know Fast and Furious set records, then JP3 set records, then Avengers set records, then you had smaller hits like Ant Man, Mission Impossible it was a pretty strong slate of blockbusters this summer. All of them might not have been our taste but they made money this summer.

Yeah boooooieeeeeeeee!

I'm looking forward to SOC. For me, a nostalgia thing.

This summer's movies... Inside Out was fantastic.  Also enjoyed Mad Max, Avengers, and Jurassic World.  Which, is probably a couple more movies than the usual summer for me - and I have a difficult time finding much to enjoy out of Hollywood lately. Good movies seem to be getting fewer and fewer... but all in all I think it was a decent summer in terms of number of good movies.

I was discussing this with someone just yesterday.

Max himself was arguably relegated to a supporting character.  A catalyst.  Perhaps even Hitchcock's "MacGuffin."

But that's certain to change in the upcoming franchise sequels.
This will probably be a Blu Ray rental when the time comes. I was too young to really remember the birth of NWA, so there isn't any nostalgia factor for me. The constant barrage of trailers that play on YouTube has intrigued me, but I'll wait on this one.

Dre got straight out of compton and lives in Malibu... oh the thug life of having an illegal immigrant clean your house for you while you drink the gin and juice.
