I guess you guys have never heard of Corey Brown?

You mean the guy who caught 21 passes last year?

I know quite a few Jags fans who have been burned by one-year wonders at wideout before. I'll consider him a threat when I see him consistently put up numbers.

I'm pretty sure most haven't considering the level of production.

I guess you've never heard of Mike Thomas? Or Ace Sanders?
Should we have heard of Corey Brown?

Did he do the Kessel run in12 parsecs?

Even with KB the Panthers were never going to be a passing team. We're geared up to run - always have been. Once our line finally became stable last year there was only one team (Seattle) that was running better than us. And that was with a hurt Cam Newton.

Ha...no I haven't. But I wasn't talking about your receiving corp. Corey was #2 on the depth chart before KB went down.
philly brown!

11 actually

We don't even know if the Jags will be favored in the game.

I'm sure they will be. Probably by 2

No, it's the Jags. Carolina will still be favored by like 4.5-5
Quote:I really like Panthers linebackers but I'm not Inpress with rest of defense. Where's the pass rush and secondary is average at best.

Quote:I agree with you about their secondary, but they managed 40 sacks last year.  Charles Johnson has been a pretty good pass rusher, and notched 8.5 sacks last year.

Considering Joeckel's inconsistencies and the OL's struggles as a whole last year, at this point I'm not sure we can dismiss anyone's pass rush.

Tillman is getting old, but his experience could make for a tough outing against our young WRs. Meanwhile, Josh Norman is one of the best young CBs in the game. I'm not sure I'd call them average. As for their DL, I believe they have a couple talented DTs to go along with Johnson's pass rushing.

Honestly, it's a Week 1 game and anything can happen. That said, if we lose, it's not a death blow to what faint hopes this team had for the playoffs anyway.
The health of our DLine is more of a concern than losing KB truthfully. Our two studs DTs have been out hurt. KK Short is more precautionary while Star has a stress fracture in the same foot that he broke last year that shut down his season. Big guys and reoccurring foot problems is an issue. Both of those guys are ridiculously good and without them it puts more pressure on Luke and doesn't allow him to do what he does. Charles Johnson has been out with an ankle but he should be fine for week one - there's no reason to make him do too much in the preseason.

The other DE position has been a problem since Hardy is gone. Neither Ealy nor Alexander have done much to impress.

If the line gets back together we have one of the best pass rushes in the league. If it stays like this then we are in a ton of trouble

If we lose, things start to look bleak quickly considering the three games that follow...

week 2: Dolphins

week 3: at Patriots

week 4: at Colts

Yeah that's a tough start. At least you get the Pats without Brady

I can assure you that we aren't over looking the Jags up here (except for the few idiots). For you to overlook us would be silly. I get the whole "terrible division" and "losing record" stuff. But what the national media doesn't talk about was our turning point last season when we benched/released the terrible vets, solidified our Oline, and started 7 rookies. That's when the team finally clicked. If that same team comes out to play we will be a tough matchup.
I don't understand the Dolphins fear. We almost beat them last year with Blake's INTs... And we are much better than last season
Quote:An excellent line of inquiry.

I say 20 TDs from the running game is reasonable IF the defense produces a few turnovers that puts the offense in short fields. But that sounds like a lot of TDs.

The closest performance to this in recent team memory was 2010.

Garrard threw 26 TDs, and the running game produced 14, with total scoring =353 points or 22 ppg.

Will this team need a 2010 MJD type performance from Yeldon to get to 24 ppg?

Is that possible?

We've averaged like 15ppg the past 2 years. If we score 22ppg this year that would be a significant improvement IMO.
