Quote:All you had to do is watch any San Fran game the past 2 years. Even playing with much more high profiled players he still was able to make his own plays and stand out. When they got injury pleaged last year he played a much more extensive role. He played in 14 games and started in 11 of them. His guy put up 5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles last year which is more than our whole linebacker core combined. The guy is a player.

He won't pass the name test but he passes the eye test. He won't come here and be Luke Kuechley but he will make a known presence and unpgrade the overall defense. He is ideal for the Otto position. Stout against the run, sets the edge, makes the tackle, solid pass coverage, Rush ability etc... A true jack-of-all-trades at the position. Blue collar type

Appreciate the insight, Mrs. Skuta. We are rooting for him.

Harbaugh said Skuta is straight out of the “old West” – he later more-specifically pegged him as, perhaps, a Civil-War-soldier type – and, indeed, the fully-bearded Skuta wouldn’t look out of place next to John Wayne.

Quote:

“Outside linebackers, Corey Lemonier. Dan Skuta,” he said. “Excellent football player, Dan Skuta. Do you know Dan real well? You ought to get to know him. He kind of quietly goes about his business and he is just a rough, tough guy who is a football player. I really, really like Dan Skuta.”

“He does it without a lot of fanfare, but a lot of grit,” Harbaugh said. “He’s just – I could go on talking about him for a while. He’s a Michigan guy. Don’t know if you know that. Yeah, he’s from Michigan. Grew up there, played at Grand Valley and heck of a high school and college football player. We got him from the Cincinnati Bengals (in 2013). Not from the Cincinnati Bengals. He was a free agent and we were able to add him to the team. That’s a guy, right there.

“You’d think he was from the old West … He’s kind of like a guy from like the 1860, or 70s, 1880s. I don’t even know — he’s kind of a combination. If he had fought in the (Civil War) I don’t know if he would have been a Northerner or Southerner. He’s from the North. He’s kind of got a little of both.”
Quote:He looks great in shorts and shells.  The guy has a great motor.  Still remains to be seen how that translates when the pads go on.
He played without pads last year!?!

Have you ever watched him play?
He could be a really good one for us, but he's also just whipping Luke Joeckel which brings me down to Earth just a bit.

Occam's Razor.

To be fair, he has made plays against tougher competition than Joeckel, such as every lineman he has ever faced. Also, he looked pretty good in drills against tackling dummies, which are also tougher competition than Joeckel.

Joeckel will be better this year. All line men don't come in the league dominating, especially with the rest of the line being horrible the last few years. Skuta never seen him play since I'm not a fan of the 9ers, but hopefully he's as good as advertised.

Wait does Poz not have pads on?

Manly pecs
I didn't focus on the 49ers too much, so I can't say anything about Skuta. A friend of mine who's a fan says he's good, and he's disappointed he left. Looking forward to seeing someone hold down the OTTO.
I know there hasn't been much positives talked about this week but Skuta played well against Carolina. Hopefully he plays well again this week.
One week about Bortles's comment and the "Fire everybody" thing, but nothing about Skuta.

He was very good against the Panthers,

He was very good against the Panthers,

Skuta showed some good versatility. His sack from the Leo spot was nice.
I may have overlooked his performance but I hav'nt seen it...

Correct Me If I'm Incorrect...

NH3...
I agree you really couldn't ask for much more from him last Sunday
