I'm sure they were hoping nobody would notice by resigning him on some random Wed. in the middle of Feb. and the day after Valentines Day at that.

 

I guess there really wasn't a good time to resign Henne when nobody would notice.

 

I really do hope they bring in another QB to push Bortles or at least compete for the backup QB position, instead of just handing it to Henne.

It won't matter who the backup is

There's still a good chance Henne winds up waiting for a phone call from his tractor come the regular season.

Definitely --- at $4m/year NO WAY .... but I'd keep him around for $2m or less.  If we can somehow get around the 500 mark, Henne could mean the difference in a win or 2 if Blake goes down or even goes down in flames.

They restructured his deal to make it easy to dump him in the event they go in a different direction according to the limited information we have available from O'Halloran's tweets.  Even at $4 million, unless it's your money, who cares?  We've got to spend that cap somewhere. 

 

I believe that when the season starts, Henne won't be on the roster.  Who the backup will be remains to be seen.

This is just a ploy to cut henne later.

This is some evil genius ploy to cut Henne later.  A smokescreen!  Plus, it sets Caldwell up to fail, AND it's Caldwell's decision.  Someone is really pulling some serious strings behind the scenes in TTRs world.

This is great practice for the open free agency period and the draft.  We can practice talking about how stupid the FO is for not signing player X or drafting player Y.
