Would any of these guys interest you for the Jaguars?
I admit I would be intrigued by a two TE set of Julius Thomas and Vernon Davis, though Brandon Mebane would fit a much larger need with Marks and Miller coming back from injury.
This team's 2 TE set would be literally unstoppable with someone like Vernon Davis, assuming he's still got it in him.
Sadly I don't see any scenario where he lands here, unless the team really values the 2 TE set and Marcedes or Julius goes down with a season-ending injury.
I'd like to have Cassel as a backup, but it won't happen.
I may gouge my eyes out if I have to watch Henne for any extended amount of time.

Yes it would be unstoppable if he still has it in him.
Even if he is no longer the 4.3 40 prospect he was as a rookie, even if he is in the 4.5 range now, he's be a difficult matchup for opposing LBs and safeties. Teamed with Thomas in a 2 TE formation would be awesome in the passing game.
As for Cassell, I think he'd be a good pickup too.

Is Mebane much different than Hood or Alualu?

I don't think so, but IIRC he was a quality starter for Seattle for a few seasons, while Alualu was just there.
At this point, I think the DL simply needs bodies. Mebane knows the scheme and comes from a winning program.

I disagree that our DL needs big bodies and I think if Caldwell believed it, they would have just kept Red Bryant around. Right now we have Jones/Miller as 1-techs. Marks/Hood/Bennett as our 3-techs, and Odrick/Alualu as our 5-techs.

You and Caldwell may well be right on this matter.
Maybe this is my pessimistic side, but I see Fowler out, Marks recovering from a serious knee injury, and a so so Miller recovering from shoulder surgery. If we get an injury to a DT at any point during the preseason, I could see us being dangerously thin until Marks is back to 100%.
How has Phil Taylor looked in Cleveland?

I think it really helps that so many of our linemen are versatile as most of them can easily switch between 3 and 5-tech. I'm not too worried about Miller since he's not even beginning camp on PUP, but Marks likely won't be the same player, at least this season.
Injury in camp or the preseason would be the only reason I could see us going after any of these guys.
I'd take a look at Riley Cooper if he was released.
