Christina Applegate says shooting 'Vacation' scenes on roller coaster, rafting trip were scary

LOS ANGELES –  It's a "Vacation" for a whole new generation when Christina Applegate and Ed Helms hit the highway in a brand-new, Griswold family road-trip adventure.

And even though there are cameos from Clark (Chevy Chase) and Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo), who were the stars of the original "National Lampoon's Vacation," this movie isn't a remake or a sequel. In the 2015 film,  the Griswold family is comprised of now grown-up son Rusty (Ed Helms), his wife Debby (Applegate) and their two sons, James (Skyler Gisondo) and Kevin (Steele Stebbins).

There's white water rafting there? Isn't everything pretty flat?

It's in the northernmost part of Georgia.  I want to say its the Nanthahala, or something along those lines.

Ever see Deliverance? That was in Georgia.

Haha, yeah...that's the river we went down.  I guess that could add to the scariness of it all.  Keep playing the banjo song over and over while going down that river could give you chills I guess.
I am not a roller coaster enthusiast at all, they scare the poop out of me, maybe she's like that too.

Pretty much this

It says there are class 4 rapids, you didn't think those were even a little scary? Were you in the very front?

Yeah, if those were class 4 rapids then I am an expert.  I also went white water rafting up in West Virginia...those were good rapids.

Hanging upside down on a roller coaster while all the blood rushes to your head and having to stay there for a while would suck.
I used to be a roller coaster fanatic. I spent the vast majority of my time on roller coasters when in amusement parks with my friends and/or daughters. Then I royally screwed up my back on the roller coaster in the New York, New York Casino in Vegas in 1998 and haven’t been on one since. I probably could, but the memory of the hell I went through for damn close to a year has me paranoid to try it again.

You're good as long as you don't see the blind kid playing banjo

That roller coaster is widely regarded as one of the worst known to mankind. The vast majority of them aren't nearly that painful.

Ha, gotcha.

They had the Olympics rafting when it was in Atlanta in 1996. I went white water rafting on that same river but I'm sure it was a different part we had a blast. Honestly the most fun I've ever had.

Love rafting here in WV! The New River is pretty mild for the most part. But, it has some really rough spots in it too that get pretty exciting.

The rapids on the Gauley River are intense almost the whole way. Most of the rapids on it really made me "pucker".
I love rafting and most water sports in general. I've been more times than I can count and still get a thrill from it.

I've been scared a bit on like class 2 rapids before.

Maybe if you're lucky enough to have never had anything go wrong, it's not as scary. Or maybe it's that I worry more because I often take a lot of inexperienced people with me.

I've only been the one time I want to say it was a class 3? I could be wrong, but it was a blast.
I love roller coasters. Earlier in the summer I went to Six Flags in New Jersey and rode Kingda Ka front row with my brother. That's the tallest roller coaster in the world and the second fastest in the world. The wait for the front row was totally worth it.

Also, saw Vacation this past weekend and it had its funny moments, but it was a disappointment.
