It will most likely be underwater as soon as he buys it....
Quote:Renting is just throwing away your money. When you buy, you can sell the place when you're done and most likely not lose any money or you can make money.
Or you can rent it after you move for residual income...Not that he should need it, but he may want to come back and live in Jax after his career is done and why not have some one else pay the mortgage while he's renting it out?
Quote:Weird seeing some places in my(eeer our?) area on the map. I would never guess stockton or Sacramento. SD and even Vallejo makes since tho.

Thanks for that link. Sad no place in florida made it.
No kidding, stockton?!?

Ever shop for a home in the Bay proper? Yikes!

I have a friend that lives in Alameda on some marina.  Knowing what kind of job he has, I'm assuming it's pricey.

I'm sure it's well into the 7 figure area. I have friends looking for a normal house near there for like 800k. Crazy.

From what I understand, the East Bay is seen as the area to invest in right now, and it's starting to push a lot of longtime residents out, much like SF has already done.

Probably why the surrounding areas are so hot on the list that was linked.

$800K won't do much in this area, it's crazy.  Maybe a small townhouse but forget about a regular house!

That's a cool spot to be in the bay area.

Yeah they stopped quick lol. They're focusing more on Martinez/Concord area now but they already live on Cordelia so that doesn't make much sense to me. I guess they're looking for good school districts though.

He keeps bugging me and my wife to come out there. I guess I should. Plus our wives get along. He tells me he can get us on at Pebble Beach and Torrey Pines. I'd like to lose a few balls there before I kick the bucket.

Edit: Not Torrey Pines. That's South isn't it? My mind escapes me what the other 'famous' course in that area is.

You should go for sure then!  Haven't been to Torrey Pines but Pebble Beach is the most amazing course i've ever laid eyes on.
Quote:Had to look it up after that comment, not even in top 20, in fact, no where in FL is.

Be careful, if you contradict FBT he'll throw a hissy fit and have to take it out on somebody.
