Quote:Difference is Caldwell has an IQ and knows how to draft. He's not throwing bologna at the wall hoping it sticks. He is smart enough to find value when it's there. You are all to used to the days of Gene....those days are gone. It's ok to be optimistic again.
It's crazy to think how much i bought into Gene's crap... looking back, he was insanely bad at drafting value. it's almost like he needed to feel like he knew something everyone in the league and fan base did not know. the alualu pick was the beginning of a long painful stretch in our drafting history.

That's how it starts. The fever, the rage, the feeling of powerlessness that turns good men... cruel.

They were dark times... DARK times
Thank God we severed ourselves from the "Gene Pool" and have a new DNA to work with

I think his biggest flaw was that he basically drafted off of measurables and didn't take into account actual football skills or level of competition. Remember those Scout's Eye segments he used to do? He sounded like a male Siri quoting combine measurements and times.

He loved his "jars on the shelf", as Vic liked to call them. It just never occurred to him that you can't be drafting jars in the first round.

i feel like it's been long enough to let the whole jeans muff deal go but i... i... i just can't do it... man deserves at least another year of ridicule before ill be satisfied with letting him drift in the annals of our history.

side note: i've been looking for a situation to use the word annals for about a week and i think i nailed it lol.

I've been over Gene Smith since the day Caldwell was hired. Contrary to the opinions of some on this board, it is possible to discuss and/or poke fun at Smith without being "obsessed" with him.

Rushed Greene obviously dropped in draft because of bad decision right before draft and size. His pre-draft positives were good hands and route running. Like most WR he will need time to develop but will play a role in WR corps and ST this year.

We will all be haunted by the ghost of Gene Smith past until the day we die. Luckily, our children will never witness such atrocities.
I will hate Gene forever..
He wrecked this Franchise. Period
He's an easy target. Doesn't take 1 man to wreck such a multifaceted entity.

Silver lining: if Smith hadn't ruined the personnel side of things, Del Rio might still be the coach.

Best thing he ever did lol.

Are you sure that's a silver lining? Even Del Rio's worst year was better than Bradley's best so far.

Quote:He will score 3 TDs this year, with 39 receptions.

Could you please post Saturday's PowerBall numbers?

EDIT: Better yet, PM me.

No, im keeping all the winnings to my self.

Do you think Greene catches more or less than 39 balls and scores more or less than 3 TDs

I'll take the under on receptions. TDs are a tougher one to peg because they're so fluky, and three is a low-enough number that he could fluke his way there. I'm tempted to take the under for a couple of reasons: he's smallish, which makes him less of a red zone target, and he doesn't have great deep speed, which makes it less likely that he'll break one wide open.
Last year we had an undrafted guy Catch 51 balls. I don't buy much stock in setting guys ceilings right away, and we do that way to much on these boards. All Rashad has to do is be consistent. What Gene Smith was allowed to do with this team had to be completely blown up, so yeah I do blame gene a decent amount.
