Sure, you say that, but when the American intelligence community brings down Michael Flynn, your side condemns the leaks.   It's the same thing!

So Trump defends Russia, and then turns around and criticizes the American intelligence community for doing the exact same thing to Flynn that the Russians did to Clinton.

No its not.

The ire of the right is focused squarely on those who leaked the information.  This information would have been classified at the highest levels of signal intelligence.  The idea that anyone knew it was Michael Flynn on the recording is an egregious breach of both ethics and the law.  This compromised our ongoing surveillance of foreign actors and may precipitate a response from Russia that now has proof that they were being monitored.  The leakers should be found and prosecuted to the full extent of both the Law and Trumps unique ability to point out Dirty Rats!

Second, In the case of WikiLeaks, Assange and his group dumped whole e-mails and e-mail chains.  They didn't leak part of a transcript and the just let innuendo and headlines drive a narrative.  From all accounts those who have actually seen the information, Flynn didn't do anything inappropriate or offer any quid pro quo to a Russian official.  This is being used to drive the rumor and the either of the Russian hacking story.  Most of the people most fervently outraged over the story don't even know that the conversation in question happened AFTER the election during the Transition when Flynn was the presumed NSA.

This is childish and irresponsible from the news media.  You have people using inflammatory language like WATERGATE one person even said 9-11 style attack when talking about the leaks of the DNC e-mails.  In Watergate Laws were clearly broken on several levels and then there was a defined cover up demonstrated through taped conversations that could be fully examined by congress.  In this case you have a member of the incoming administration networking with a foreign counterpart.  THAT'S IT.

In the Mid 80's we now know that the Democratic party was directly conspiring with Soviet Russia against then president Ronald Regain.  There was direct request and offers made by Ted Kennedy to promote the soviet regime inside the united states to help prop them up in exchange for help defeating Reagan.  Where's the outrage over that?
The fact that one phone call from two diplomats has caused this much talk and controversy shows just how much trouble this current president will have in getting any policy's in place.  It will be a fight at every turn, even with something as meaningless as a phone call.  All of these people want him impeached now and they don't even know what was said.

Talk about a witch hunt.  Obama never received treatment like this from the media or the right.

Every administration leaks.   This one is no different.   Trump knew about the phone calls a couple of weeks before he fired Flynn.  So obviously, if Trump knew, then a lot of other people around Trump knew, and they could actually be the ones that leaked it to the press.   Maybe Steve Bannon.  Maybe Jared Kushner.  Maybe Priebus.  There are reports of a lot of infighting and jockeying for power in the White House.   It appears very plausible that the leak didn't actually come from the intelligence community, that it actually came from inside the White House.

Secondly, if this was a political hit job, and Flynn actually did nothing wrong, why did Trump fire the guy?  That doesn't add up.  Is Trump that weak, that he would fire his national security advisor who did nothing wrong?

He lied to the go that lead to his embarrassment.

And I don't think anyone is reasonably asserting this came from the incoming political appointees.

You're pretty much wrong by all accounts.  General Flynn was simply doing his job.  The reason that President Trump asked for his resignation is because of how he (General Flynn) reported to the Vice President.

The leaks came from the intelligence community and are felony acts.

In before the comparison to the Wikileaks Clinton e-mail problems.

hacked info released to the public

is

NOT THE SAME THING....

Not sure if they'll ever get the person or persons directly linked to the leak... but here's hoping.

I'm sure that they will and I'm sure that at the very least the person or persons will be fired.  They should be prosecuted.  We will never see it reported though.
