Since no one else has mentioned it, I'd give some thought to buying a UPS also.  I bought an 825VA UPS last year, which gives me 16 minutes of runtime when at idle.  My PC is close enough to the one you mentioned, although I have an 850W PSU, and mine is plenty big enough so you could go lower.

I got mine fairly cheap for an 825, but one in the 650-750VA range will cost you ~$70-100.  Definitely cheaper than having the power go out and frying half your new computer.

My office desktop is hooked up to a UPS. Doesn't buy me much time when the inevitable brownouts hit us here (being on the downwind side of a rural power grid has its limitations), but it buys me enough time to save what I'm doing and shut down properly rather than just crashing it.

I know it's not a PC game but I just finished playing "The Last of Us" about an hour ago and I was actually physically shaking at the end. What a fantastic game that is.

Isn't it though? The first time I played through, I had intentionally avoided spoilers, and the end of the prologue just about broke me in half. I had to put down the controller and didn't pick it back up for a couple of days.
2013 was pretty good, bioshock infinite (my personal goty), tlou, tomb raider, starcraft hots, gta v, I want to say xcom but that was probably 2012

Between the cover and my expectations of zombie apocalypse I kind of was expecting it and prepared myself mentally. But I played the rest of the game not knowing what to expect at all. All I remember from people talking about it when it came out was that ending was done really well. Normally I end up reading at least some spoilers because I can't help myself and I read a few bits of the TV Tropes page but this time I intentionally avoided all spoilers. I didn't even want to mention playing the game in conversation (IRL or on the internet) because I didn't want it spoiled for me.

X-Com was 2012, but you can cheat and use the OS X version which was released in 2013.

I wish these games (last of us, Bioshock etc..) were not shooters or primarily shooters. I want to experience the stories but have no affinity for shooters.

Shame, because you really are missing out. You could always try watching some Let's Plays on youtube but if you don't like playing a shooter you almost certainly won't like watching someone else play a shooter. Or you could wait for the Last of Us movie.

I'm sure the movie will be truly awesome

I do watch some let's plays from time to time. Obviously not that same as experiencing it myself but it is what it is.
