I just had a new central air unit installed (8 days ago) by AA Service and Repair.  It cost $6500, but the unit is leaking and it is sitting on a bent leg.  I would like to get a 2nd opinion, but want someone I can trust.  If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it!

Anyone ever get back to you Vic? Id look on Angie list that's where I've gone for home repair stuff in the past.
No... but I just installed a Nest thermostat this morning and it's pretty sweet.
Wouldn't AA Service and Repair be on the hook for making it right?

If not, I used David Taylor when I lived in Jacksonville.

What is that?
Wifi driven thermostat.

I can control it from my phone and it's supposed to learn your schedule.

Now I remember I saw it at lowes a while back that does look pretty cool. Wouldn't work for me since someone is always home here, but if your away that should be big savings.

Sometimes, if you get a second opinion, you will void the warranty.

It happened to someone I know who had a fairly new unit that malfunctioned, and he called a company who had not installed it, and their opening it up voided the warranty.
LOL. My dad. Thankfully. I need to learn his tricks of the trade.

HVAC is where my career began after the Navy...I assume you had a split system heat pump system installed. (A condenser unit outside and air handler inside)..The other option(s) would be a package unit where everything is in one unit outside...$6500 sounds kind of high to me unless you had duct work installed, but I have been away from Florida for quite some time too...

If the contractor fails to "make it right" the only recourse really is to have another company fix the problem...It shouldn't void the warranty...It's not a requirement that the same company that installed the system do all the work on it. Now if the leak is the fault of the contractor such as crappy solder joints or improper installation, the warranty doesn't cover that so you would have to pay the other contractor for that and then try and recoup the total you paid to the second contractor probably suing him...Some contractors might find some sort of terminology to use to describe the work being done to satisfy the manufactures warranty since the first few years covers both parts and labor (generally 5 years parts and labor and 10 years parts)...

The leak could be in the a/c coil in the air handler, the condenser coil, the service valves, or any solder joint inside the units done in the assembly of the units, which would be covered by the warranty no matter who fixes it...

It's odd the contractor doesn't seem to want to fix it, since it should be under warranty

This only happens if the homeowner signed a service agreement with the installing company...If that is done, the homeowner is signing a legal contract stating that no one but them can work on or service that unit for a specific amount of years and they have the right to void the warranty if anyone else does anythng to it

Thanks to everyone. The original company, came out a few days later and corrected the issue. I appreciate all of the responses. I will be using a new company in the future. A couple people sent me personal messages and the suggested companies overlapped. Again, thanks for everybody's help!
