Quote:The Giants have no reason to go QB in Round 1. They may need a developmental player at some point in the draft, but using a first round pick for that is stupid in their situation.
I'll tell them you said so. Surely, that will make them change their plans.
Quote:Tell that to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers

What makes you think that was exactly the same situation? Brett Favre was forced out of Green Bay before he was ready to retire because Aaron Rodgers was ready to take over.

He was forced out because they drafted Rodgers in the first round 3 years prior.  Favre was 35/36 years old at the time.  Eli Manning's age right now?  36.  They could draft someone in the first round this year, let him sit for 3 years and force Manning out and it'd be the exact same situation.

It is not even similar because Favre wanted to keep playing and Manning will hang it up when he is ready to.

And maybe Manning will be "ready to" when he's 45 and the Giants want his replacement ready to go and will be willing to cut Eli if their new guy is ready to take over before then.

You're wrong.

It's the EXACT SAME situation as Favre/Rodgers.

The only way to think it is exactly the same is to not know Packers history. Are you just trying to ruffle my feathers?

Good [BLEEP] god no. Favre was old, they drafted his future replacement. Eli is old, they could draft his replacement. This isn't that [BLEEP] complicated.
You don't have to cuss me out about it. I will not waste time arguing with people who refuse to understand my POV about things.

Bc your POV is wrong.

A bunch of words that are not cuss words. Are treated as such.

This is funny, considering you criticized Skeet for not understanding Packers history.  There were rumblings of Favre considering retirement as early as the end of the 2006 season, the same year they drafted Rodgers.  Up until his departure, it was not a given that he would continue playing after each season.  The Pack knew his time was coming to an end, just like the Giants do now, so they drafted his eventual replacement as the Giants could do.  Manning would be replaced in the next couple season, just as Favre was.  It would be the exact same situation.

My impression is that Brett Favre forced the Packers hand in moving on from him in 2008,  when he was very unsure in the winter if he wanted to continue to play.  Having Aaron Rodgers on the roster with plenty of exposure to the Offensive System made it much easier to move on from Favre than most teams would have been able to,

Oh no doubt.  His constant waffling on retirement had to have worn thin on them, coupled with the drafting of Rodgers had to have made them comfortable moving on.  I'd have to guess when they drafted Rodgers they were expecting him to retire in the next 2-3 seasons, and he may have retired after one final season with the Pack had they not decided to make the switch.  Seemed like his last couple years were all about trying to stick it to the Packers.

Once Brett Favre signed with the Vikings in 2009,  there was no doubt that he wanted to stick it to the Packers.  He did that season but was a shell of his former self in 2010, his final season.
What happened to the Cruz discusssion?

What's your take on the Panthers potentially signing him?

Mostly just "meh". He's nowhere near the same guy after that injury. But our WRs are a mess and he would instantly be the best route runner and best hands. If he's our only move at WR then I'll be hot. Our GM knows him well from their Giants days so I'm sure that's why he brought him in. But yeah....just meh.

What about Benjamin? Or, do you mean that's all they really have is him?

On paper KB had a pretty good year coming off his ACL tear (50 yards short of 1000), but he really disappeared a lot this year. He also had at least three plays that literally directly caused us to lose a game (of course there were other factors that caused us to lose, too, but his plays were the nail in the coffin for each of those games). I'm giving him a pass because he was coming off that injury, we were a complete mess this year, and Cam was bad this year....but he's definitely got to pick it up in '17.

But to answer your question....I'm not convinced that KB is a #1 WR.

What would surprise you more, signing or not signing Cruz?

And who would you rather have, if anyone, to compliment Benjamin?
