Other players expected to be tagged by Wednesday deadline include Kirk Cousins, Le'Veon Bell, Kawann Short, Melvin Ingram, Trumaine Johnson.

No mention of JPP on that list!

Yep, let's hope they don't put the tag on him (although I still think it's difficult he hits FA but here's hoping!)
Also no Bouye and Gilmore, I think we are going heavy at one of the top CB's considering we are letting Prince FA it seems.
Was pretty obvious, unfortunately. Ingram is the one that's going to get tagged that we didn't expect a week ago.
There goes all the pass rushers.

<p class="" style="font-size:16px;">The Giants don't want to do a deal with JPP at $17m but teams were lurking and they knew it. So franchise tag it is.
Quote:Beachum proved that last year. We are keeping him at LT - hopefully all four years he is under contract.
I just wanted to take a moment and enjoy this declaration one more time.
Looking like the only decent pass rusher on the market is Jabaal Sheard now

That will change on March 9.

Hes decent. Still could draft a de too.
Quote:Do you like him better on the left or right side? I remember reading Reiff was the LT when Detroit picked Decker and both players competed for the LT job. I love flexibility in linemen because very few teams keep the same 5 all 17 weeks.
Right side.
Riley Reiff was the Lions starting LT for the previous 3 seasons prior to 2016. Once Taylor Decker was taken with pick # 16 and he performed well in the off-season at LT, the Lions brass never looked back at keeping him there and moving Reiff to RT
Considering all of the injuries the Lions had the previous 3 seasons on the Offensive Line, flexibility and depth certainly have been needed. To Decker's credit, he played every Offensive snap a a rookie and is clearly the long term answer at the position if he remains relatively healthy.
Quote:I think he played pretty well at RT but D6 can further elaborate.
I remember him coming out of Iowa as a prospect that I liked.
enigma, I agree with your assessment. Riley Reiff wasn't an All Pro at RT. But I thought he played at a winning level more often than that. The one game that he struggled mightily was at Houston when he was playing with an illness. That same illness kept him out of the game at Minnesota the week after.
The major reason why I think Reiff is a better fit at RT than at LT is he has below average arm size for a Tackle. Reiff is good athlete though and will prepare and battle with the best of them.

Interesting. I thought arm length was equally important for both left and right tackles.

IMO, arm length is more important on the blind side of the QB, which is usually the left side. On the left side, you are usually facing the opposition's best pass rusher, often with no help or limited help.

I will remember this when offensive tackles are measured at the combine.

Arm length is an important criteria for lineman on both sides of the ball. It's only part of the equation but it's certainly well worth paying attention to as an NFL fan.
