Jaylon Smith or Myles Jack?
|
I'm just curious as to who everybody would pick at #5 if it came down to those two? I kind of threw Smith out of the conversion because of the injury. But if you're comfortable with Jack at 5, would you be with Smith? Or would you rather trade back to get Smith later?
To me, Smith is better. But the injury is the main concern.... GO JAGS!!

Myles Jack. Pairing him with Telvin Smith would just be ridiculous. So much speed, which is desperately needed at the LB position
10 years ago we had Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, and Steve Jobs..... Please don't die, Kevin Bacon.
Taking Smith in the first round (trade down or not) is a treacherous move for a GM that needs contributors on defense right now.
If they are gonna' go LB in the first - I'm a little more inclined to go with the guy that could spell Poz on passing downs early in the season (and provide depth for Telvin as well.) Smith could replace Poz in 2017 completely IMO, while Jack has a few more question marks (in my mind) in terms of being a three down MLB. Not saying Jack won't become that type of player, but he may be more suited to Telvin's role whereas Smith is equally suited to the middle as the outside. That's my early take having just watched a few cut-ups. I'm no expert on either of these guys. If the Jags sign Weddle and a better than average pass rusher in free agency, then I wouldn't hate either pick. Especially if a trade down for Smith produces a bounty of picks. W/O the luxury of that type of free agent haul, I'd have to say take Jack or the best defensive player available at #5. An injured first rounder is too much of a luxury for the Jags this year without free agents that will contribute substantially and immediately.
I haven't seen Jack play, but as I am married to a huge ND fan I have seem Smith play a ton.
He is a dynamite talent whom I was hoping would be our pick. Too bad he got injured. Good news is, we are getting some talent on D at 5 no matter who is picked ahead of us

Jack's injury happened early enough he could contribute in 2016.
Smith I'm not so sure. I'd take Jack at 5.
I have the agree with the majority here. We need to draft a player who will be on the field this year. I was leaning on taking a chance with Smith. But the more I watch videos of Jack, the more I'm ok with taking him. Although I think if Smith returns to his former self, he will be the better LB in the NFL. We just don't have the time to wait for him by drafting him #5; or in the 1st rd for that matter...

Jaylon Smith prior to the injury would have probably been my pick at 5.
But Myles Jack is a great prospect as well and wouldn't complain one bit if he'll be our pick at 5. it's unlikely, though if J. Smith slips towards the end of the first round I'd consider trading up for him (especially if they go Ramsey or don't go LB with the first pick). We show less advertisements to registered users. The only game of Jaylon Smith's that I watched this past season was the Notre Dame - Clemson game, which is another way of saying that I don't think I watched Smith play all that much. That game did not paint him in a good light in my mind.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
I'm buying the hype on Jack. I think he'd contribute a lot to the 2016 team.
I love the idea of him and Telvin playing together. That game did not paint him in a good light in my mind. That's the game that turned me off him,I counted 6+ missed tackles. He moves great sideline to sideline but gets swallowed up at times. Blitzing is probably his strong point but other than that I don't see anything special about him.
Saw some videos/game clips this dude on Twitter was posting about Jack. His athleticism and speed is absolutely off the charts. Crazy stuff.

Is Jack stout enough to play Mike or Sam?

Jack is so far superior it's not even close, imo he's probably the best player in the draft.

Jack has the highest ceiling of any player in the draft
