NFL.com 4 round mock draft
|
Jalen Ramsey and Miles Jack are both exciting potential selections for round 1. However, I think Gus and Dave are going with a pass rusher, and I expect them to select DeForest Bunker over Joey Bosa. Bunker would play the 3 technique on 1st and 2nd downs with Marks playing 3rd down. The Jaguars will have Fowler, who they drafted last year, and a veteran from free agency this year to play the DE position. So the 3 technique will become more of a need than the Leo. Of course, this is speculation and we will see what happens over the next few months.
There are going to be a lot of good defensive players available in round 2. And defense is going to be the emphasis of this draft. So philosophically I think the round 2 pick should be on defense. If the round one selection is not a pass rusher, then I expect the round 2 selection to be a pass rusher. The selection of a TE in round 3 is a luxury pick. The Jaguars already have Thomas as a pass catching TE. I would rather the Jaguars address the center/OL with this selection. The question here, of course, is Shatley. Has he developed enough to be the starter at OLG next year? I was really disappointed that he did not get more playing time at the end of last year to give the team a more definitive answer to that question. Since they didn't play Shatley more, then I am leaning towards the belief that he will not be ready to be a starter next year. Striker is one of my potential selections for round 4. So I think that is a good selection. He will definitely contribute to the LB corps. So I have a problem with the rounds 2 and 3 selections being on offense. I am okay with the round 1 and 4 selections and not okay with a TE as the round 3 selection. I would be okay with an interior OL in round 3 or possibly another defensive player. |
