Based on the Cameron Jordan deal (5 yr/55 m plus incentives), it is believed in Miami (Miami Herald) that his roughly $12m per year (w/incentives) deal will be the "floor" of any dealings with Olivier Vernon. The franchise tag for a DE is estimated to be $15.5m for a one year deal. The Dolphins have some real needs, and with the Suh signing this past year, it will be difficult to afford a $15m hit. The thought in South Florida is that they will try to work a long term deal with Vernon, to spread upfront money over the contract. However, they don't see using the franchise tag on him. You never know....but that's the word in Phin-Land.
