I assume you were a fan of the Jaguars picking a punter in the 3rd or the Raiders picking a kicker in the 1st. Anger could turn out to be the best punter in the league; that doesn't mean only a complete idiot would make that pick. lolol To me, Joeckel was not a top 5 pick. So why in the heck would I take him there? Would I have taken Joe Thomas with a top 5 pick? Absolutely. His importance as a left tackle only magnifies the importance of the pick. Would I take Ramsey with a top 5 pick? No, because I don't think he is a top 5 talent. Would I take a SAFETY who I think is not a top 5 talent with #5? Absolutely not.

Exactly, is Ramsey worth a top 5 pick? Not sure. In this draft though it is a little weak at the top so I dont believe there are that many top 5 talents

Alexander's stock could shoot up after the combine. Ramsey's stock can drop. Or they can be so similar there analysts don't think one is better than the other. It happens every year.

I take them all with a grain of salt, especially those rankings outside these two sources.

 

But, when you see "consensus" then those players usually don't move up or down much.

 

Right now, he's consistently in folks' top 5.

 

Where he would "fit" best, IMO, would depend on what a selecting team needs him to be.  For us, that would be FS, and that might be the position where he's got most so-called "ceiling."

It's pretty clear he's a playmaker, being extraordinary at finding and making a play on the ball.

NFL.com has only two mocks right now. Bucky Brooks has us picking Jalen Ramsey, but Daniel Jeremiah overrated Deforest Buckner. That shows you why I usually don't read the first mock draft.

Don't confuse mocks with rankings.  Rankings rate the player.

 

Mocks are just a guess at who teams will take, regardless of what rankings they have.

I read he will be better as a free safety in the NFL than a cornerback. Not sure why the draft analysts say that.

If he's the guy the Jaguars want and they have properly scouted him, it's because he probably will get ints from the center field position...

We can properly scout a player and want him, but after that coaches need to figure out if he should be exclusively a FS or a hybrid DB. That will be a big factor in how many passes he intercepts.
