Just sold lemonade to McDaniels, he loves Jacksonville and would love to develop Bortles.

Yup and that went down as one of the top 5 trade blunders in the NFL.

@ryanohalloran Marrone talked to ownership Monday but not official interview.

Quote:I would not be opposed to Marrone as a candidate, I just dont know enough to make the judgment that he is a good coach. Gus dropped a 50 burger on Indy, does that make him a good coach? When things are not going well, will Marrone walk out on the team like he did with Buffalo?
Marrone had a specific clause in his contract, that he could opt out if ownership changed.  He chose to exercise that clause and kept his reasons to himself.  Maybe he just didn't want to speak ill of the new owners.  The situation in Jax would be completely different, of course.

I believe there's a good chance (  60 % or more )  that Doug Marrone is going to be a HC in the NFL again beyond being an interim HC.    These last two seasons with Buffalo probably helped Marrone's cause.   The Bills were better when Marrone was there in 2014 than they were under Rex Ryan in 2015 and 2016.    Also,  the Bills organization yet again didn't show patience with their HC,  regardless of ownership being different.   This has been the case throughout the post Marv Levy coaching era.

Marrone left on his own so it wasnt much of a patience thing. And Marrones team was better because of Schwartz defense, There wasnt much else on the team to speak of outside of that. Ryan screwed the whole thing up switching to a 3-4.

Marrone has 25 years of coaching experience and 5 years experience being the lead guy in charge. What's limited about that?
The thing going around is limited play as a hc here.  So really,  I am right.

How is 5 years head coaching experience limited?

So they were middle of the pack. (18th in points) With Orton and Manuel that's not too bad. Hell if we were average on offense this year we'd have won the division.

Yeah their offensive ranking wasn't great but he had Orton playing at his best.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

You guys need to start treating TTR like JDub. They both don't have a full deck.

Marrone wisely left when he had a clause to do so because, as the owner's firing of Rex shows, Marrone had reason to worry about a short hook. It was the owner's patience he had to worry about, combined with a terrible QB that the FO wanted him to continue to start. No one in their right mind would stay on if they told you had to play EJ Manuel and your success depending on his development, especially if the option is a full year's additional salary.

The entire Buffalo exit situation is irrelevant to this potential hire and no one with a functioning brain in the Jag's FO is considering it a factor in whether or not they retain him.

It wasnt, like at all. They had a solid rushing attack and thats about it.

I knew Bortles was trash. But here is the honest truth...if Bortles didn't have a windup, he would be a top 10 QB.
