Or not. Are there any Royals fans on this board. There are tons in this bar, but I'll bet they are actually just bitter Nationals fans.

Dang. Friedman jumped ship to the Dodgers. Funny how he didn't do that with the Angels or Cubs when they came calling. But decides to do it now. Rays farm system is average to below average and every year Longoria gets older the window gets closer to shutting. Can't be stated enough the great things he did with the team, but with how big advanced stats and the like have gotten, it shouldn't be tough to replace him with a guy who knows what he is doing.

That Royals bullpen is nasty!

Its looking like Royals Giants in the WS.

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Joe Maddon leaving the Rays.

As a Rays fan, not a good day.

Hadn't seen that. Where's he going? Good manager, can't blame him though.

Opted out of his deal. Nothing about his future plans.

The franchise has been languishing in St Pete since their founding. Maddon at least brought them out of the gutter and worked with a mostly mediocre lineup for the last decade.

I have not heard anything recent but they have always talked about building a new ballpark in Tampa. Just not sure it ever happens.

Maybe he'll follow Friedman to LA?

I'd welcome him with open arms to the Cubs

Wellll crap.  Goodbye Rays.  They will now disappear back into obscurity.  Maddon is one of the best managers in baseball, if you ask me.  He consistently gets the mostest with the leastest.  Lots of teams will be scrambling to bring him onboard.

As long as the Rays keep this core of players together, they should still battle for the playoffs the next 2-3 years.

Maddon had a way of making them a team.  I don't think they'll play as well with another manager.  We'll see.

We'll see. He did a good job of keeping the team together a few times when they did not get off to a good start. And he got alot out of some journeymen.

Losing Andrew Friedman wasn't really a big deal. Their farm system isn't close to what it used to be. And his drafts have been duds since 2008.

I hope they promote Dave Martinez.

Eh, he's just a manager. Studies say the best and worst are worth about 3-4 wins both ways a season. He was one of the better ones, especially as a people manager, but they can survive without him.

Can't wait for the season to begin. The Marlins moving into their new air conditioned facilities should help attract some fans.
