I've heard two variations of this, The first being that we would get a pick because the fact that they traded for them because when we would have cut him and Seattle didn't think he would make it threw waivers warrants that the trade will be valid since we weren't the one that cut him, but they were,

and...

the flip side is that i've heard that we wouldn't get a pick because he was cut so i'm not sure but i feel like the first would be more accurate since they traded for him and I don't remember anything from the beginning of the season when he was traded saying it was a conditional pick.

Doubtful.  He only played 2 games, likely meaning he didn't meet the conditions of the trade.

Caldwell took a swing at getting a pick for a player that was going to be cut anyways.  Looks like it didn't quite work out.

No, it worked out. He traded a nothing into a possible something.

That's what I was thinking, however the link said it was a pick-to-be-named rather than a conditional pick.

if that's the case i'm going to have to look into the later round players that I picked... though i saw Shaw and groy in the bowl game and i liked them both so i'm familiar with them, and Shaw further more against the UCF game when i was watching bortles and clowney.

I mean franchise QB, impact Leo, impact DT, Stork and Bibbs are great value.

I personally like Moncrief but wonder who else could have been there in the 3rd.

Mine went:

1: Clowney - DE/USC: went with the more proven prospect over Bortles/Manziel

2nd: ASJ - TE/Washington: all the QBs off the board went with ASJ over Yankey/Ealy since Clowney in 1st

3rd: Skov - ILB/Stanford: probably hardest pick...Boyd still on the board along with Gabe Jackson. Was a toss up between Skov and Jackson as I see them as more impact players than Boyd will be at QB

4th: Easley - DT/Florida

4th: Stork - C/FSU

5th: Andre Hal - CB/Vanderbilt

5th: Murray - QB/Georgia

5th: Bibbs - RB/Colorado State

Would have liked a better QB in 2nd but no value there and Skov/Jackson made going Boyd in 3rd not worth it.

I did a few (slow day at work) and each time my first two picks were the same, must be a sign.

This was my last one. I would have liked a DT in there and I didn't want to go WR that early, but I really like Abbrederis. From the fifth round onwards is basically blind guesswork.
