DeAndre Hopkins: Tom Savage should be starter

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...be-starter

Deshaun Watson is drawing praise from his coach and those covering him, but DeAndre Hopkins wants you to look to the top of the depth chart. The Texans star endorsed Tom Savage as starting quarterback.

Well there's a reason why he was named the starter after the draft and before camp.. they don't plan on starting Watson this year, never have. Savage has 3 years in the system and despite being a 4th round pick mainly because he was a college transfer and didn't get as much playing time, he has prototypical size and a ++ arm. Injuries have robbed him of previous opportunities.  I hope he stays healthy, because I want to see what he can actually do being named the starter going into the season..He looked pretty good in that comeback last season.

After watching all the crap we've rotated in and out ahead of him the last 3 seasons He deserves his shot this season. Watson still has to get up to speed, learn the system, and the offensive line is questionable.. it wouldn't be productive to throw him to the wolves right now.  Houston already learned that lesson with their last 1st round QB.

There is no reason to rush Watson. He can always start in week 7 if the TExans are 2-4.

Tom Savage to start for Texans preseason opener

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...son-opener

Tom Savage still holds the lead in Houston's quarterback battle. Late last week, Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins said Savage deserves to start, and the veteran QB will do so Wednesday.

You couldn't put this in one of the other two threads that you created about Savage starting?

Seriously everytime you have a new post about Savage starting it does not constitute a new thread..all it does is flood the forum with the same exact topic.

Dissention in the ranks??
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I'm interested to watch Watson tonight though. Even against backups, will be interesting to see how he is in a more "real" NFL environment going full speed
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
