Their fatal mistake was when they stopped trying to be a 24-hour tabloid and decided to promote any female reporter with an anti-Trump fetish to any anchor's chair available. I gave up on the channel entirely late last year when one of their midday anchors interrupted actual news to jump to a breaking story about Donald Trump being sighted on a golf course, leading into an "objective" interview with one fellow die-hard lefty reporter to shriek with her, and another "analyst" who looked like he'd just been pulled off the toilet and didn't know what everyone was yelling at him about. It was a sad moment for the First Amendment.
