He knows how to get just enough air under his passes to hit receivers in stride on his deep passes and his timing on those throws are impeccable. This is something a lot of QB's can't do. They either over-throw receivers, throw the ball short so receivers have to stop, change direction and come back to the ball or they get too much air under it and receivers have to stop running and it turns into a battle with DB's to snatch the ball at it's highest point.

Mayfield, Rosen, Lamar have better arms than him. Velocity wise all of those and Allen have stronger arms than him.

He struggles to drive the ball when he has to,. particularly to the sidelines, which is a tell tale sign of lacking arm strength..there is zero reason to float a quick out and yet Allen does it consistently.  Also while Rudolph has great touch , Washington and Ateman have to adjust a lot to his passes which speaks to questionable placement.

He's not a bad prospect. Just limited upside with his skillset..I wouldn't hate him in the 2nd or 3rd.

Call me crazy, but I don't see a guy who folds under pressure or shows a lack of arm strength at all. He's hitting receivers in stride on deep, intermediate and short passes.

More than that though I worry about him being, by far, the worst of the top QBs when he is pressured. I don't see many guys that were as bad as Rudolph when pressured fix that problem in the NFL. And my not many I mean I can't think of one, although I'm sure there have been a couple.

Look at this and tell me he is bad when pressured.

This is essentially a highlight video. I prefer to look at what they do over the course of a full game against different opponents. Lack of arm and feel shows up a lot.

I really don't understand what you want. I watched almost every one of Rudolph's games last year and I have no clue what you are referring to. You can't have a lack of arm and still be considered one of the best deep ball throwers in the country, like he was. I saw him makes deep throws, intermediate crossing patterns and out passes to the sidelines, as well as screen passes without consistent problems all season. Sure, he'd throw an errant pass every now and again, just like every QB does, (even Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers), but it didn't occur in chunks like we get with Bortles. When I watched Bortles and Mayfield this year, I saw guys who are about as consistent as a QB can possibly get. That's all I want, is consistency.

Great touch but his arm talent overall isn't great.

I have the same impression about him actually but I haven't watched enough.

What's your take on Lauletta? I definitely have to watch more of him as well but his quick release and ball placement stand out in a very positive way.

I dont really see how arm is an issue. He doesnt have Aaron Rodgers level arm strength but it seems more than enough to be an NFL QB.

Well like anything subjective theres going to be differences in opinion. Don't fault you for sticking your viewpoint if that's what you think.

My personal view is his arm is average at best. Most of the QB gurus I follow for content would seem to have the same opinion. I think Rudolphs size and style of passer leads people astray with his arm. Theres a reason he floats all of his passes and it isn't by choice.

Lauletta reminds me of Jimmy G a lot. As you said quick release , great ball placement, clean mechanics and has all the intangibles you look for.
I'm pretty on him being our target in the 2nd if we bring back Blake. He's gonna be good.

Give me Hernandez and Hurst in the first two rounds and I don't care what they do the rest of the draft.

Thank you, that's what I think as well for what I've seen so far, I'll definitely look for more film on him.
I have to say that even if we bring Cousins/Smith I'd love to bring this guy in (although in that case I'd wait till the 3rd round and see if he's there, although I think he'll get drafted earlier than most mocks project him now). Lauletta seems like a guy NE could be interested in now that they lost Garoppolo.

Jaguars picks:

1. Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State: In my opinion, the best QB in this class. He's big, he moves well. He has tremendous accuracy and touch. He reads defenses well and spreads the ball out to multiple receivers. He will need to work on taking the ball directly from Center, but that is something most QB's in this class will have to learn. He should give Bortles real competition by midway through the season.

2. Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina: A big TE who is one of the better blockers in this class, but he also has very good hands and the ability to get deep. He will give the Jags an added dimension to the offense that they haven't had in a long time.

3. Austin Corbett, OG/OT, Nevada: Corbett is one of the most highly ranked interior blockers in the draft. He played LT at Nevada, but plays much better inside. During the Senior Bowl week, he struggled some when on the edge, but once kicked inside, he drew praise from coaches and analyst. He looks like a natural OG, displaying very good run blocking as well as pass protection skills. He did not allow a sack in 2017, despite the Wolfpack attempting a league high in pass attempts. Has 36 straight starts. I believe he could settle right in at LG.

4. Micah Kiser, LB, Virginia: Kiser is a highly productive linebacker. He led the ACC in tackles 3 straight years and racked up 145 this past season. He shows the versatility to play inside or outside as he also displays nice pass rush skills, accumulating 5 sacks this season and is pretty good in coverage as well with 4 pass breakups. He could take over for Poz, and allow us to disguise some schemes by rotating him and Myles Jack at MLB and SSLB.

6. Javon Wims, WR, Georgia: A 6'4" big, rangey WR who was pretty much the Bulldogs only receiving threat this past season. He averaged 16 yards a reception in 2017 and 720 yards receiving despite being on a predominately run first team with a freshman starting QB. He is a good route runner, with very good hands and excellent body control. Had he not gotten injured late in the NCAA Championship game, the outcome could've been different. He has fully recovered now and is preparing for the draft. I believe he could give the Jags a legit redzone threat for the Jags, along with a new TE.

7. David Bright, OG/OT, Stanford: A versatile O-Lineman who played every position on the offensive line except Center. He's a very good run blocker and a solid pass protector as well. Gathered All Pac-12 honors this past season and although he can OT, he is much better suited to kick inside to OG, where he looks like a natural. He did not allow a sack in 2017 and was named All Pac-12 second team. I believe he could beat out A.J. Cann for the starting RG job.

7. Terrell Edmunds, S, Virginia Tech: Big Free Safety prospect with range, athleticism and instincts. He is the brother of probable first round linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. He played 10 games this past season with 59 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and 2 interceptions. He also had 4 pass breakups and 6 passes defended. He may go a little higher than this, but if he's there, I think he'd be a solid selection to push Gipson at the Free Safety spot. If nothing else, he gives us solid depth where it's needed.

First and foremost, excellent work.

I thank you for your efforts in compiling this.  I may or may not agree with a particular pick or a rationale behind the pick, but the work you put into this at this somewhat early stage is commendable.  Kudos.

My immediate question to you would be why would Tampa sign Keenum?

Why would Minnesota re-sign Bridgewater and then sign Taylor?  Does this scenario presume they re-sign Sam Bradford as well?

I think in your scenario, Buffalo vastly overpays for Smith, especially considering back in 2013, the 49ers only got a 2 for Smith.   Smith will be 34 on May 7.

I really like the Seattle selection of Connor Williams.  Even though they traded for Texans LT Duane Brown, Brown is in his 30s, and Seattle needs help all across the line.  Short term, that selection solidifies the OL and makes it much less of a weakness.

As far as the Jaguars go, I like the idea of bolstering the passing game for the future, and it sets up well in those first three picks.  I would wonder about the Corbett pick and his run blocking (I was especially hurt-though not surprised-to see Hernandez taken off the board by the Miami pick), but he seems like a Coughlin type OL pick with his ability to swing outside in a pinch.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

There is a zero % chance the Bucs sign Keenum.

Thanks.

I have Tampa signing Keenum, because I really don't think Keenum is going to get the kind of contract he thinks he will. Tampa needs someone to push Jameis and Keenum would be the type of QB that could be brought in to do that, without really being a threat for the starting job. I, like most of the NFL, don't see Keenum as a franchise starter. I think he's a dependable backup and that's it. I believe that is the ultimate reason he leaves Minnesota. If you watch interviews with the Vikings coaching staff, they are very minimal with their praise for Keenum. They are totally behind Teddy as their future starter.

In Minnesota, I believe they re-sign Bridgewater as the starter. They need a backup QB as all three guys on their roster are UFA's. I don't think many people around the league view Tyrod as a good starting option, but he takes the job in Minnesota, because he feels it's his best chance to get back to being a starting QB, since Teddy is largely unproven. I believe the Vikings move on from Bradford, because they realize he is just injury prone and unreliable. I don't know where he ends up. Possibly Cleveland?

I agree about Buffalo overpaying, but they believe they can win now, with a dependable QB and this is the nature of the NFL. In fairness, Smith appears to be one of those "late bloomers" and in my opinion is a much better QB than he was in 2013.

Agreed about Seattle. Even with Brown, that O-Line is a mess.

Actually, Corbett is a solid run blocker. He was the best blocker on a Nevada team which ranked 20th in the nation in team rushing in 2016. Admittedly, the stats took a dive in 2017, but the Wolf Pack had a new head coach and a new offense was implemented. If you actually watch some tapes, Corbett is still as good as he ever was. As for Hernandez, I would've loved to see him on this team, but I see no way he falls to our 2nd round pick or else I would've definitely had us take him. He really helped himself during Senior Bowl week. I'm also a big fan of OG/OT Isaiah Wynn, but I don't think he falls to us in round 2 either.

Rudolph: One team source likes Rudolph, but many others are skeptics. A general manager of a playoff team told me they had Rudolph graded on the third day of the 2018 NFL Draft. Another NFC general manager said they thought Rudolph could go on Day 2. An AFC college scouting director of a playoff team said they were giving Rudolph a fifth-round grade. One area scout said that they were really concerned with how Rudolph struggled throwing into tight windows, because he won't have receivers running wide open like they were for him at Oklahoma State.
via walterfootball (so take that fwiw)

Also Daniel Jeremiah has a write up prior to the season where 5 different NFL execs were asked about Mayfield or Rudolph.
3 votes Mayfield, 2 Rudolph.
But what I found interesting was... each exec thought "his guy" had better arm strength.

Everything now, is smoke and mirrors. No real scout worth their salt is going to give anyone outside their own team, a "real" evaluation of players they like. They hold everything close to the vest. As far as any team targeting a specific player in the draft, I take it all with a grain of salt. I just go by what I see.

As far as arm strength, I think Rudolph and Mayfield have very comparable arm strength and accuracy.

I've watched 5 full games of Rudolph,Jackson and Allen. I would rank them Rudolph, Allen then Jackson. I like Rudolph alot, he needs to sit a year because he needs to stop just throwing jump balls on fly routes. When he drives the ball down the field he is fine but he tries to get cute and loft 50/50 balls to Washington and its like [BLEEP] are you doing?
