Annual Site Wide Mock GM LOUNGE DISCUSSION

I was thinking late fourth-early fifth for him. Doubtful he goes anywhere in the third round with that velocity.

I decided to draft QB Kyle Lauletta based upon a number of factors. There can be no question Kyle has a grasp of the quarterback position. While there are a handful of pro quarterbacks with exceptional arm strength the rest must make due with what they have.

Lauletta's draft grades vary somewhat so he may not be the best player available, but there is enough in his style of play that makes him much more than a place-holder draft prospect.

I picked Colorado CB Isaiah Oliver for the New York Jets. Oliver was arguably the best player available regardless of position. In fact, several more reputable value boards slotted him around the beginning of round two. The Jets got him 30-odd picks later so he could be a real steal. I was slightly surprised to discover he had not been picked. While the position seems to be crowded for the Jets, Oliver will likely settle near the top, either as a starting CB, or perhaps as the nickel CB for his first season - then incorporated into one of the two outside CBs. I watched several reels and he is a very good football player.

Also considered was Ohio State OT Jamarco Jones. With the preceding Texans' pick open for debate, Jamarco Jones' name came up. I decided against drafting him to lead block of Saquon Barkley due to the fact that I could not find any resources indicating Jamarco Jones excels at run-blocking. Many evaluations specifically indicate that he does not.

Let me ask my friendly peer GMs....

Does he remind you of Michael Irvin?

Michael Gallup vs Alabama 2017

If the Jaguars can land he and Chark in one draft.....

I always thought he reminded me of Larry Fitzgerald. Not especially athletic, just a very reliable pass catcher who can make big plays in key situations.

The Broncos are grinning ear to ear about him. The local media up there continue to hint that Elway will draft him. I saw him during the CSU-Wyoming game. My notes said to check him out, but I never got around to it, or I was so certain the scouts would spotlight him I never thought I needed to dig deeper. (Kinda like Anthony Miller) AND/OR I never thought the Jaguars might be in a state personnel-wise where they would consider drafting Gallup. (I would love it)

Micah Kiser would have been an early 4th Round pick if the Mock Draft continued beyond 3 Rounds.   Very good intangibles but some significant physical limitations.
