Agreed. Even if the NFL doesn't suspend him, no team in the league should want the stain of employing scum like him.

There is no grey area here.

Jon Gruden on line 1.

Don't give him any ideas. He still hasn't decided who to burn his 2020 first rounder on.

Was there an update I missed? I thought he was just meeting with investigators?

Either way, the kid should be placed in immediate family care(close relative) or placed in some form of foster protection and be adopted by adults who won't hurt their kid.

I hope both Hill and his wife do time, makes me mad they even dropped the case. Just charge them both if you cant decide who did what! Obviously they are both covering up for each other, makes no sense to me if they get away with this.

You didn't miss anything, except maybe the details of the "covering up" you mentioned. The fiancée doesn't appear to be a conspirator but another victim of Hill's abuse. He's heard in an audio recording threatening her. It seems pretty clear she was bullied into playing some role in ending the investigation into Hill's alleged child abuse.

Hill will probably get 6-8 games off to start the 2019 season.

Remember - Adrian Peterson ended up missing 6 games a few years ago for allegedly abusing his son.

AP's alleged child abuse was significantly different though wasn't it? More so outdated physical punishment.

Hill's transgressions are on another level..

To clarify, 'outdated physical punishment' that caused "cuts and bruises in several areas of the boy’s body, including his back, ankles and legs."

I'm going to say they are on the same level. You don't do what either one did to a kid, you just don't.

Regardless of the varying levels (if they were indeed significantly different) it's still the same transgression technically.
Goodell is not known for being consistent with the punishments he doles out, but Peterson's case was simply what came to mind for me as a precedent of sorts.

Reading the tea leaves I'd say the suspension is around 4-6 games. So out for us at least

I think he either gets traded and if no takers, his career is done.

I bet he plays for the Chiefs on a 4 game suspension.

Why? He wasn't charged with anything.

It's obvious the kid needs to be taken away from both of them and he can pay for someone else to raise the kid in a loving home. This is just standard behaviour from 2 people that don't know how to be adults or have an adult relationship. You can go to any city and find the same situation with 2 people that keep going back to each other after beatjngs.

He has too much talent for this to put him out of the league. He probably doesn't get a new deal, but a 1 year prove you can play in all the games deal.

And that's the problem in a nutshell. "If Hannibal Lecter ran a 4.4, we'd have called it an eating disorder."

Peterson didn't face suspension until he was charged. Hill hasn't been charged and the DA dropped the investigation.

Even though most of us believe he did it, I think the league will have a hard time suspending him and being able to make it stick through appeal.

They really didn't have an issue suspending Zeke Elliott a couple years back, and there appears to be more evidence of wrongdoing on Hill's part than there was on Zeke's.  The result of a law enforcement investigation is pretty irrelevant in the NFL's eyes on whether they feel the player has violated the personal conduct policy.

Good point on Peterson's case.

I think the recording of Hill telling his fiancée she should be afraid of him may be enough in this case for Goodell to get a suspension through the appeal process.

I hope you are right, but I have my doubts.  At the risk of turning this into a political discussion here are my thoughts regarding it.

I realize that criminal evidence is needed in this case to prove his guilt over his innocence as far as criminal charges, and apparently the recording isn't enough evidence.  With that being said the NFL is not the judicial system and could "convict" someone or force them to prove innocence rather than the NFL having to prove them "guilty".

With that being said I don't know that the NFL is going to want to go to court whether it's legal or civil court over suspending a player that has not been convicted of a crime.  Just throwing this out there, but if the NFL decides to suspend him for say 4 games (all hypothetical) he could possibly have a case to sue the NFL in civil court and recoup any money that he might lose.

With all of that being said, I think that he did it (public opinion based on the limited facts that we know).  I imagine that how it gets handled is being decided by people way more informed and smarter about this than I am.

Is he able to sue the NFL directly, or would the NFLPA have to do this for him. The reason I ask is because of the presence of the CBA. I don't know the answer but can an active NFL Player sue the NFL or only file an appeal?
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
