DJones has an albatross around his neck with that high pick. Not to mention, if anyone between 6 and 17 has a stellar career, armchair GMs will forever refer to the missed opportunity to pick the other guy.
Alualu should be judged on the players taken after him.

players, collectively, or just the DT? Comparing Jones to Haskins exclusively discounts the value lost by passing up the other 8 guys selected between 7 and 14. Your original statement was that the comparison between Haskins and Jones are going to determine whether the pick was good.  How many times have we heard about how we passed on Watt to take Gabbert, or picked Anger with Russ on the board? If Ed Oliver becomes an All-Pro, are you saying that taking Jones at 6 is justified, as long as he is less mediocre than Haskins, if they both turn out average?

I am saying it is all opinion on if you consider it a reach or not or if the pick is worth it or not. If they get their franchise guy it was worth it. If they get their franchise guy but Haskins or Lock is better than it may or may not still be worth it. If Oliver or Allen turn out to be All Pro's and they could have still got Jones with their second pick then maybe it was a reach. But in the end if you get your guy at QB, it doesn't matter when you get him, all that matters is that you get him.
