Between having 13 picks in the 2020 Draft and currently the 2nd best salary cap situation in 2020, the Dolphins have the opportunity for a major turnaround as soon as 2020. The additional future 1st Round pick from the Texans provides the Dolphins with an excellent overall opportunity to build something sustainable.

Considering the Dolphins have gone for quick fixes as much as any team in the first 2 decades of the 21st century, the long term approach they are taking makes plenty of sense for their franchise.

On the other hand, the product the Dolphins put on the field this season isn't good for the NFL. Even if the Dolphins win 1 to 3 games ( big IF they will win any games) , most of their games will be probably be unwatchable for most, sometime in the 3rd QTR.

The really good part about this?

It sets them up to be in position to be in a position to draft a QB #1 overall either in 2020 or 2021.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

If the NFL doesn't like it then they should change the draft ordering formula. I've suggested in the past it would be based on a rolling 2-3 year window of record rather than just one year so that a team can't just tank a year like the colts in 2012 and grab a #1 overall pick. Also it wouldn't punish bad teams for always winning 3-4 games like the jags between 2011 and 2016 so they never get the best draft position, sustained losing would get the best draft position over near term losing.

They're gearing up for Trevor Lawrence in 2021 along with the indy clots.
