Trent Williams Trade? (merged)

#1

NFL.com is saying that the Redskins have changed their minds and are now considering offers for Trent Williams.  The Browns are said to be in the mix.

Would the Jags make a play? Do you think offering the Rams' 2020 first rounder would get it done?
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

As much as I would love to have Trent Williams and would give a first round pick for him in a heartbeat, it won't happen. The Jags are determined to roll with their two, young Tackles. I expect to see upgrades on the O-Line, but I believe they will occur on the interior.

Because our Tackles suck.

I didn't realize how old Trent Williams was when I asked the question. I don't think you can offer more than a second rounder for anybody who's 31 years old. Except maybe a super bowl winning quarterback who's hardly ever been sacked.

Andrew Whitworth is 37 years old and has been a very good LT, up until this season. He's fallen off a cliff this year, but for God sakes, he's 37. If we traded for Williams and got 4 good years out of him, I'd be thrilled. That's about the length of an average NFL contract.

Robinson isn't good.

I'd trade our 1st from LA for him in a heartbeat.

I'm rather happy we didn't. A 31-year-old tackle, fine. A 31-year-old tackle who's sat out the year to date because he has/had cancer that the team told him to play through? Yeah, I'll have to pass. I feel for the guy, but that's not a risk worth taking.

Eric Berry is 30 and had cancer. It is all about what the cost of acquiring him would have been.
