Flex at TE?

Definitely a red zone specialist. They called him a “jump ball expert”.

Looks like he’s got some wiggle.

And can stretch.

We had blatant RZ issues last year and have added this guy, Viska, Eifert, and for all intents and purposes Josh Oliver. Hopefully goes a long way to fix that.

EDIT: I should add hopefully a new OC will help as well

It looks to me like we've acquired specialists at the WR [BLEEP]. I watched a couple highlight clips. I like what I see. If he can gain strength and stay healthy, we might have something.  Just gotta hope they handle him better than they did Lazard.

why did it bleep out [BLEEP]? lol

Needs to put 30 pounds of muscle and become a TE.

He reminds me a lot of Marques Colston. Tall guy with hands that ran a 4.5-4.6 40 yard dash. I think he & Shenault fell due to injuries their senior years and the overall quality and depth of the WR position in this draft. I can honestly see him being a factor as a possession WR to move the chains in addition to his obvious deployment in the red zone.
Championship Formula:

1) Draft Trevor Lawrence!
2) Play good physical Defense!
3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy!
4) ???
5) Blank #2
6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

He was definitely my favorite day 3 pick. He can be at least a role player on this team for a long time. With good health and a fairly accurate QB, I think he will become a fan favorite.

Exactly what I was thinking.  Use him at TE/middle of the field and in Red Zone.  Was noted as a good blocker in his profile, too.  Seems like the type of ball catchers the Saints have always seemed to make use of (Colston, Graham.)

What stands out to me is his body control.  Not the quickest off the line, but seems to adjust and use his body really well and seems to have a nice target zone.

from his college coach:

“He’s done a great job for us over the last three years. He has gotten stronger. Since the time we got here in three years he’s added 14 pounds and lost seven percent body fat. He’s really strong now and I just wish he would have had a chance to prove that at the combine. He’s got great leaping ability, great ball skills and can really high point the football. People call them 50/50 balls, but when we threw it to Collin we called them 80/20 balls because eight out of ten times he was going to come down with it.”

I have a feeling that Johnson will be the biggest surprise of the Jaguars' draft class. He was hurt badly by not being able to show his talents in the post-season. I love the fact that he has the football bloodline going for him. His height will be a big asset in the red zone and as a safety valve for Minshew.

Definitely a good value pick where they got him in the draft. I think he will develop into a rotational player by year 2.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

I am not sure how much he sees the field. The WR room is over flowing now, lol.

WR options #1 Chark and #2 Shenault are super talented.

Conley and Westbrook are no slouches athletically either.

It's a young group, but they're at least middle of the pack in terms of potential.
