Any other team would feel the pressure to eventually start a former league MVP who’s made a pretty penny during his career as a star QB.

The Patriots however, won’t take that into consideration. Their only priority is starting the guy who they believe will give them the best chance to win (or not lose) games. No politics involved.

It’s interesting, because Cam isn’t really the kind of QB that I think Belichick would want. He’s got plenty of bad habits. Holds the ball too long, takes chances, is a fairly inaccurate passer. If Stidham Or Hoyer looks better in camp, they’ll start either one. Cam certainly has to earn it

lol at Richard Sherman’s rant. Newton has accuracy problems and requires a certain offense. The year he won MVP it was because they went 15-1.

He goofed up in the Super Bowl and there’s a reason 30 other teams didn’t even bother.

Sherm is just trying to see if he can still make headlines.. because he knows his time is about to be up as a starting CB. No way he can still play outside in 2 yrs.

I think if he is healthy and looks at all like early 2018 Cam he'll be the starter. But if he's super rusty or shows any signs that his injuries are still preventing him from performing at a high level then Stidham starts. Cam is a low risk high reward signing for the Pats. At 7.5 million he's making less than many back ups in the league. Not a bad backup or insurance policy to have if Stidham isn't progressing. Hoyer is just a veteran player-coach who is familiar with the system at this point. He's become the Pats Todd Bouman almost lol

If Cam has dropped that Vegan Diet, he'll do just fine in most offenses which includes "The Cheaters". His health/strengh is key to his or anyone's NFL success. I feel that he'll push hard for that starting gig because his one year contract is performance filled.

Time Will Tell.

NH3...

Lots of folks speculating that the pats announced the signing last weekend hurriedly to try to bury this story line:
