GOP Congressmen Urge Action on Taliban/Russian Bounties

#1

I was wondering where all those flag waving patriots were when this story broke.  I assumed they'd want to show some support for their troops overseas with bounties on their heads.  They're finally deciding it's worth their time.
The White House knew of this in 2019 and did nothing. Trump was briefed again on Friday and then spent the next two days golfing.

Pentagon says ‘no corroborating’ evidence to stand up NYT report on Russian bounties

Quote:“To date, DOD has no corroborating evidence to validate the recent allegations found in open-source reports. Regardless, we always take the safety and security of our forces in Afghanistan—and around the world—most seriously and therefore continuously adopt measures to prevent harm from potential threats,” Jonathan  Hoffman, the chief Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement.

The New York Times, citing unnamed officialsreported Friday that it is believed that some “Islamist militants” or “criminal elements” collected payouts. The report pointed out that 20 Americans were killed there in 2019. It was not clear if any of those deaths were the result of a bounty.

Apparently every time the democrats leak some fake news we’re supposed to react like our hair is on fire.

Personally I heard the Russians hired the Taliban to pee on something.

This is an example of the liberal media making a problem out of nothing.
The IC is only supposed to brief the President on credible intelligence. If they didn't think these reports of bounties were credible, they didn't need to tell him. Now, if they did tell him, and Trump wasn't paying attention, that would be terrible. But the Gang of Eight didn't get the briefing either, meaning in all likelihood the President never got briefed.

GOP and Dem lawmakers are reviewing the collected intelligence on the matter to determine if there's anything credible.

Obviously lawmakers on both sides already believe it's worthy of investigation as many have publicly stated.

Not sure how this is some biased issue?

the reports seem like bogus honestly. Just a tool to hurt Trump and to prevent a drawdown of troops. The machine needs blood!

And some wonder how it can be a "bi-partisan" concern. You hit it dead on, the establishment of both Parties needs conflict to keep their power and prestige.

I don’t think anyone disagrees on this point.

If his daily briefing didn't come from MSM hosts Hannity, Carlson, or Ingraham, then he likely wasn't paying attention.

Apparently every time a report comes out that's critical of President Trump, you're supposed to call it fake news.

And that's something more powerful than any one president or politician.

A good read on the situation. I have no prior knowledge of this guy but makes logical sense to me

We have an unsubstantiated report about this bounty story, but if he does strike back, a la Soleimani, he's accused of murdering a plane load of civilians.

There is a lot to be learned from children's books. They have the ability to take complicated topics and make them understandable to people with smaller brains.

In your case, this one unsurprisingly went right over your head.

So the fake news story by the NYT seems to have vanished rather quickly.  When a "news" story by the NYT (as well as other MSM outlets) cites "unnamed sources" you can almost bet that the story is fake.

With that being said what is most disturbing is that sensitive data was certainly leaked to help the NYT come up with it's latest Russia fantasy.

Why would Russia put bounties on US troops if Trump is a Russian puppet?

I’m completely unsurprised that you tout children’s books while supporting a man who literally dispatched his minions today  to convince the public he can read.
